Holy cow, Joey. 39 forwards in one year - let alone your first year - is smokin'. Keep doing what you're doing, and sticking with Taxi will be the best money you ever spent.

Joey,

You're making us very envious. Well done on the forwards. To me that's phenomenal.

Now shut up and renew :)

Well, if you've had 39 forwards and one deal, Taxi's certainly done their money's worth. Remember Taxi is a well connected middle man, who's assignment is to get your music heard by others. That's what A&R does. If you are not a member, you will have to do that job yourself. It can be done, if you have the time, but with many of these libraries who's running listings with Taxi, you probably won't get the chance as a newbie.

But don't forget to utilize the feedback for your returns, also, what does the feedback really say when you add it up. Is there something you can improve with your music? Taxi plays it for publishers, and forward it, but what keeps Taxi's clients from signing more songs from you? Do they think their clients can use the music, and if not, why?

The end game is really the publisher's clients and the music libraries' clients, and how to win them over. In that respect you should side with Taxi and the companies that sign your music and work on making win-win's for everybody. With 39 forwards, Taxi is doing their A&R job for you, 110%.

Yes! :D

I nearly quit before I renewed my first year also.
I wasn't giving myself enough credit for my growth that year.
My wife encouraged me. I booked my flight to the Rally and renewed for two years.
The very next opportunity I wrote for got me a direct placement with a music supervisor.
The two additional years are up this September. And I'm happy to say I'm nearing 100 placements so far.
Like others said, this is a marathon. A career for life. Stick with it, that in itself will be success. You are investing in your musical growth and that is priceless.

Congratulations Joey !! 39 forwards in year 1 is amazing

PLUS remember you DO have 1 piece of success from those 39 forwards - you got a placement in a library ! That is a mean achievement in itself... Why not ask that library if they'd like to hear some more of your work ? Ask them what they are currently looking for ?
Remember, you have achieved that contact through TAXI 8-)

I started at the start of this year, and have had 2 forwards - I was a member last year on behalf of my husband, marketing his music not my own. This year I couldn't afford the renewal, but decided to go for it myself anyway.

I am a lyricist, a writer. I started being brave and posting lyrics on the forum here, as well as in GYAWS (a facebook group for songwriters who are serious about keeping themselves writing). Both of those, plus 2.5 years of TAXI TV, have enabled me to meet other songwriters and co-write with some amazing musicians. My 2 TAXI forwards this year are via songs submitted to TAXI by my co-writers - so I consider myself doubly lucky.

As soon as I have the spare funds again - I will be renewing my TAXI membership - it's worth its weight in gold as far as I'm concerned, just for the education alone - which they mostly provide free even for non members :D

So my two-penneth worth is - renew - a year is nothing in this long term game :) And I too now have a 5 year plan - thanks to the forum participants.

Good Luck !
Sláinte, Amanda

And congrats on 39 forwards, that's fantastic.
For some perspective I've had 41 total in nearly 3 years.
You're actually on fire! Keep it up :)

Good Joey. DON'T QUIT. This place is too awesome and you are progressing way beyond someone like me. I could only hope to approach that type of production. 1 forward here man so I would say you will make some cash down the road. Good luck and "keep on keepin on."

Thanks everyone. Pedro, Your story is very encouraging. I will be renewing and I look forward to writing "that one song that will put a shirt on my son's back" (or put him through college someday for that matter :)

Joey, it's great that you have decided to re-new. From my point of view, I find your number of Forwards in your first year a total inspiration. Just great going!
For us mere mortals with a lesser Forward score, I think it's as AmandaJane said, Taxi's "worth it's weight in gold for the education alone".
Keep it up!
All the best /Steve
