$35K Shoe Commercial - Final Product

Post by shorttonpro » Wed Jan 13, 2016 3:25 am

I was curious to see if the ad was released yet, and sure enough it was.

http://www.ispot.tv/ad/AAVa/shoedazzle- ... -wayfarers

The track they used was "Just Our Style" by Wayfarers, who is lesser known indie group - so congrats to them! (Don't know if they are part of Taxi or not, but don't see them in search.)

When watching a few of the brand's other spots for the campaign, it seems like they were actually secure the Katy Tiz track and used some other Icona Pop Tracks.

Anyway, always nice to hear and see what ends up being used.

Original Listing:
CONTEMPORARY POP and/or POP/ROCK SONGS Male or Female Vocals (Female preferred), are needed for a $30,000 - $35,000 Buyout Deal by a Production Company working on a Fall Ad Campaign for a Popular Female Shoe/Fashion Website. They’re on the hunt for lively, Ad-friendly Up-Tempo Songs in the general stylistic wheelhouse of acts like Katy Tiz, Neon Trees, Heartsrevolution, etc., etc., etc. Please take a careful listen to the references they picked to get a general idea of what could work: “Whistle (While You Work It)” by Katy Tiz: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2MNdFKUDVg “Everybody Talks” by Neon Trees: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5G9tIe84lE “Kishi Kaisei” by Heartsrevolution: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zoyQ8iZ ... e=youtu.be Quoting the source: “The client was very happy with their music selection for the last campaign, and are looking for similar, energetic Female Pop Songs with a really memorable chorus. Female vocals are preferred; however, we are open to male vocals in the style of Neon Trees/female friendly bands. Instead of the ad celebrating women/shoes in groups, the Fall campaign spots will focus on individuals and their personalized style. One spot will follow an uptown girl, the other spot will follow a downtown girl, and there may be split screen spot. In each, the uptown and downtown girls meet at the end.” Please submit full-length, hook-driven, Ad-friendly songs that sound like a real Pop cut, with an inviting vocal performance and overall sound that puts some pep in your step! Think about the confident and upbeat nature of Female shoe commercials, and imagine how your song can fit the bold, confident, and empowered women in the campaign. You get the idea… give them something they can strut to, with immediately engaging melodies, hooks, lyrics, and polished production. The chorus will a big focus for this campaign, so be sure yours is awesome! Lyric themes should be broad, general, and universal, so you’d be wise to avoid lyrics with references to specific dates, times, places, brands, or profanity. It’s probably not a great idea to submit lyrics about buying shoes, but ideas that loosely fit the idea of stepping-out, strutting, etc. could potentially work (but you don’t need to limit yourself to those ideas). Please, do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. The creative fee for this will range between $30,000 to $35,000, all in, for 6 months. They mentioned they might have some room to adjust the budget/terms, so all deals will be made on a case-by-case basis, depending on the success and length of the campaign. No publisher splits. You’ll keep 100% of the fee! You must own or control the Master and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. All songs will be screened on a Yes/No basis by a TAXI screener handpicked by the company. No full critiques. Please submit 1-3 Songs no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Friday, September 4th, 2015. TAXI #U150904PO

Seems to me like they could have let the song "star" a little more in the commercial, but I'm just a dumb musician...what do I know?!?!

Thanks for digging this up for us!

Funny, the music didn't leap out to me in this one. The thought that kept crossing my mind was "how the hell do women walk in those things?"
