3rd forward for 2020!

Post by JohnnyP » Mon Jan 20, 2020 4:15 pm

Hey all!
The new year seems to be starting out nicely and I hope yours is too. I've had 3 forwards this year but this last one is the one I'm most excited about. I did the writing and production and the wonderful Kali J sang it for me! It was the only song forwarded for the listing. I'm especially stoked coz I've been working hard on my techniques for current, modern sounding music. Here's the listing:

DANCY POP SONGS for TV COMMERCIALS with Male or Female Vocals are needed by a great Publisher with an awesome track record of placements in TV Commercials.

They’re looking for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that would fit well on a playlist with the following references:

“BOLD” by THE HIGHFIELDS

"Get Dat" by Rayelle

"How Ya Like That" by Olly Anna

Please submit fun and RHYTHMIC Pop Songs that have all the essential elements of current Pop music. Submissions should have a mainstream, radio-friendly sound, memorable melodies, great hooks, and super catchy choruses. Make sure your vocal performances are strong and confidently performed. Most importantly, your Songs should make people want to get up and dance!

While lyric themes can vary, the bottom line is the TAXI A&R staff will be asking themselves: "Will these lyrics work in advertising? Are they short, catchy phrases that are positive, uplifting, and fun? Will they make listeners feel good about the product in the commercial?" That's the goal!

Do NOT copy the referenced artists or Songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast quality is needed.

The specific deal points will be handled on a case-by-case basis
.

And here's my submission:

You've got the Modern thing down for sure, John! Always!
And I hope it's full speed ahead for you, in that advertising lane I've heard you talk about here on the Forums!!
From what I hear, that's also a very lucrative lane to be in as well. I hope you have that in your back pocket by now and if not yet.. I'm sure it's coming.

Also, Congrats on the first three but I'm sure there will be a lot more forwards for you this year and beyond!

Cheers,
Danny

It's a great track John, not the least bit surprised you got a Forward, congrats!

That was actually one of my favorite tracks from 2019, didn't realize it was Kali on vocals, makes sense though.

Anyways, best of luck for deals and placements and eventually some M O N E Y for all that effort!

Thank you Jay, and thanks Danny for the kind words. Yeah Kali is great and so nice to work with! And Jay to your point re $, this is the first year my BMI statement was ever fun to open up! It's like what everyone tells us- fill the pipeline with music and it'll pay off eventually. Best of luck to you both for 2020!

Hi Johnny...nice job. Definitely a fun pop, make you wanna wiggle song. The female harmonies together are perfect for this pitch.
Best of luck to you.
Ron
