70's R&B Song Forward
Very happy to find out that my song "Day Gets Me Down" was forwarded to a very niche listing for a Netflix series. Keeping my fingers crossed! This song was an "outside" the box song for our band as we were doing a throwback tribute to southern soul via Muscle Shoals....very fortunate enough to have it fit a listing for something so specific. Check it out:

1970’s Style SOUL/R&B SONGS with Male Vocals are quickly needed for several $1,500 to $2,500 NON-Exclusive placements by a Music Publisher that’s feeding tunes directly to the Music Supervisor of a new, original Netflix TV Series. They’re looking for authentic sounding Soul songs in All-Tempos that could be found on a playlist with classic ’70s acts like James Brown, Sly & The Family Stone, The O’Jays, etc., etc., etc. Take a listen to the references they gave us to get in the general stylistic ballpark of what they need: “The Payback” by James Brown: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IST6qRfVqwY “Everyday People” by Sly & The Family Stone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUUhDoCx8zc “Stairway to Heaven” by The O’Jays: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erZmWwDKwrU Give them well-structured songs that can instantly take you back to the era, with a timeless approach in terms of melody, lyrics, vocals, and overall style. Songs that sound like a modern interpretation of a Classic sound won’t work well for this pitch. The more authentic to the 1970’s era they sound, the better! Lyric themes can vary, but they should be something that you’d typically hear in that era. Universal lyrics will work best, so please avoid references to specific names, dates, times, brands, and profanity. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artist/acts or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). The estimated license fee for this use is $1,500 to $2,500, depending on the ultimate placement. This Publisher offers a NON-EXCLUSIVE 50/50 deal. You’ll get 50% of the sync fee and 100% of the Writer’s share. The Publisher will get 50% of sync fee and 100% of the Publisher’s Share. You’ll keep 100% of the original copyright. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to submit for this. All Submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis by a TAXI screener handpicked by the Music Supervisor. No full critiques. Please submit 1-3 Songs no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on WEDNESDAY, June 1st, 2016. TAXI #U160601RB

Great song, performance -- very soulful.
I loved the lyrics, contrasting night and day.
