Wrote this one for the Game show listing. Let me know what you think. I'm still a newbie when it comes to mixing, so any pointers will be greatly appreciated.http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... 4&stream=1

I like it! Ah, it brings back many college mid-morning "study" breaks watching "Scrabble," "Password," and other fine programming. The only part that made my brow furrow was the sedond synth instrument that came in around 0:43. It was slushy-sounding and the melody didn't seem to fit the key.Otherwise, your other synth melody is perfect. From what my laptop speakers put out, the guitar seems to be trying to drown it out, though.I'm inspired to go fix up the one I submitted to a similar listing a few months ago and got brutally flogged on the critique.Kathleen

Thanks for listening, Kathleen. I agree with the points you made, especially the "slushy" sounding middle part(laziness on my part I'm afraid). I will be fixing that up for sure.I would love to hear your game show theme. Thanks again for checking my song out.-Dave

Well, since it's still up on my site, I guess there's no preventing anybody from listening to it ...www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_id=25168&stream=trueThe comments were that it had good energy but all the instruments sounded far too artificial. (The trombone sounded real because it was out of tune.) And the xylophone solo would have been impossible to play by anyone but the best xylophone players in the world. (If I really wanted to argue that, I would show them a DVD of the Drum Corps International championships. Those kids are mind-blowing on the mallet percussion!)The screener was polite, but advised me to go back and redo it with more realistic instrumentation. Which I will ... someday.

Very nice. I can see what they meant by the xylophone, but I kinda liked it myself. It has that quirky feel most game show themes have. Great job!!!-Dave

It's got a cheesy spirit, which is what they are looking for. I'm not an expert at production either, but I think I would watch the high frequencies in this... whatever pad is playing that lead melody is a little squeaky. Maybe drop it back in the mix just a tiny notch & use some high/low filter on it. Just my opinion though, see what other folks have to say. It takes a lot of work to put something like this together and I think you've done a good job, cheersHummin'bird

I knew I'd have to get the cheese grater out for this one This is actually my first recording using midi synths at all, so I'm still working on those sounds. I think with some tweaking this may be a keeper. -Dave

I can't stream from TAXImusic.com at my day gig but I plan on listening when I get home, I'm interested in everyone's interpretations of the listing.I submitted two to this listing. The first is a 60s game show style piece that I've submitted to a similar listing recently:http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... tream=1The second is a more 70s style cut that may not be cheesy enough but I thought I'd give it a shot:http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... tream=1And for playing our game today, you'll receive................... a contract!!! Mazz, your 1st piece is bang on. You do such a great job with the brass in your compositions. The second one may not be cheesy enough for this listing but I'm sure it has a place. Matthew, your piece is good, but I wonder if it could use more variety - but see what the screener's think.H
