So we have Kurtis Blow (I don't know what to make of the wrong spelling in the name), early 80's, maybe a couple notable tunes, very early 80's R&B style music, RUN DMC best known for their work in the '86-87, Public Enemy best known for their work '88-91.
Stylistically, couldn't be more different from all 3 artists. If I could find a common thread, it would be aggressive male vocal, well, kurtis blow, he had confidence I guess. Other than that, the rap styles were vastly different.
Which direction would you go?
Run DMC is a natural fit for me, since I've got plenty of returns with the comment "vocals too old school". I'm a shoe-in for this one!! so I may just forge ahead with that as a template.
But knowing how ambitious I can be, I'll probably try one in all three, the limit is 3 songs after all.. LOL!
Any thoughts?
