A 60s/70s Motown/R&B Forward

Post by pshamell » Thu Jun 30, 2016 8:56 pm

I found out today that a 70s-style R&B ballad I recorded about five years ago was forwarded :)

https://soundcloud.com/pshamell/i-love- ... ll/s-FyOk6

Here is the Listing:

ORIGINAL, 1960’s to 1970’s Style MOTOWN/R&B/SOUL SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are U-R-G-E-N-T-L-Y needed for several (up to) $3,500 NON-Exclusive placements by a Music Publisher that’s feeding tunes directly to the Music Supervisor of a Big Budget, Hollywood Feature Film. They’re eager to find soulful Songs in All-Tempos that you could imagine hearing a playlist with legendary artists/acts like (but not limited to), Martha and The Vandellas, Marvin Gaye, Four Tops, The Temptations, The Miracles, The Supremes, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, The Spinners, etc., etc., etc. Take a listen to these familiar classics to get an idea of what they need: “Dancing in the Street” by Martha and The Vandellas: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GuCBXTfoVq8 “What’s Going On” by Marvin Gaye: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-kA3UtBj4M “Reach Out I’ll Be There” by Four Tops: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnDm3qr1Knk “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg” by The Temptations: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crWSG6liT5Y “Shop Around” by The Miracles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsnkkeSve54 “You Can’t Hurry Love” by The Supremes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qOiNnK7AFg “I Second That Emotion” by Smokey Robinson & The Miracles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sti_tuBiv5g “It’s a Shame” by The Spinners: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DE0EOIqwiQI Give them well-crafted songs that have a timeless vibe, with great Motown era rhythms, catchy melodies, and a vocal performance that could have been ripped from the grooves of one of the classics. Vocal harmonies and a string or horn section would be icing on the cake, but they’re not necessary. Lyric themes can vary, but should be something you’d expect to hear coming out of the Motown studios back in the day. Universal lyrics that don’t mention specific names, dates, times, and brands are preferred, but are not critically important for this request! Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). If you’ve got an old, vintage recording that’s actually from that era and doesn’t have today’s fidelity, send it in! This request is much more about the vibe than anything else! The estimated license fee for this is $1,500 to $3,500, depending on the ultimate placement. This Publisher offers a NON-EXCLUSIVE 50/50 deal. You’ll get 50% of the sync fee and 100% of the Writer’s share. They’ll get 50% of the sync fee and 100% of the Publisher’s Share. You’ll keep 100% of the original copyright and master. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to submit for this. Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD, include lyrics. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis by a TAXI screener handpicked by the Publisher. No full critiques. All submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Monday, June 20th, 2016. TAXI #U160620MS

Hi,

this takes me back more to the 60's than 70's but its straight up R&B. Well performed, you captured that soulful sound that just never gets old.

best
