A Dangerous Game

Post by RogerFluet » Sat Jan 12, 2013 1:19 pm

Hi,

Since I have started to post comments it seems appropriate to offer up 1 of my tunes for comment.

There is a fortunate :) , unfortunate  , story to this song related to the 2012 Road Rally. 2012 was my first Road Rally and I was fortunate enough to have 'A Dangerous Game' selected on the very last panel. Unfortunately Michael decided to use it as an example of 'wrong genre' so it never got critiqued by the 'All Star' panel.

Also learned lesson about sound level and product quality as it was not finished at the time... anyway lesson learned and fortunate that it happened so early however... I still cannot figure out the genre of this song.

All comments welcomed but please offer comments on genre.

Thanks Roger

A Dangerous Game

It’s a dangerous game that were playing
Be careful now what you're saying

Some would say it's complicated
Some would say I’m implicated
Certainly frustrated

Baby you know it's not me
Baby you know I’m not free, it’s just a
A dangerous game that we play

There are devils & angels in our heads
On a perilous journey we are led

The devil counsels an advance
Tapping on our shoulders the devil's dance
Disapproving angelic glance

Baby you know it's not me
Yes I know you're not free, it’s just a
A dangerous game that we play

It’s a dangerous game that we're playing
Hearts await, nerves are fraying

Maybe it’s all over rated
Considering all the complications
Me I’m not sated

Baby you know it's not me
We both know we’re not free, it’s just a
A dangerous game…
Dangerous game… that we play

Till its real

Hey Roger,
Cool tune. Love the mood. Like your vox.
I used to think if they couldn't catagorize you, THAT WAS GOOD.
But for licensing it is often good to have ala's and a genre.
I think it's blues-rock .. or singer-songwriter-blues-rock if you wanna get more specific.
Sounds like something I would have heard in Austin, TX when I was there.

Hey Dean,

Thanks for the response. I agree that being original is a double edged sword. Still need to write what comes to me. Fortunately many of my other tunes are much easier to categorize. I like the idea of finding some ala's as a way to find the fit.

Interesting aside. As my post states i am new to the forums, forcing myself out of my shell. Last week I downloaded a free tune, my only one directly related to my visits here so far. It turns out it was Marc Blackwell's 'Bring Me Trouble'. Coincidence? Who knows? Either way a cool connection. And that tune is cool too. 8-)

Thanks again... added a like to your FB page, nice work there, quite the voice! Released album this past Friday? How cool is that!
