A (Little) Piece Of Your Heart
Hi allI wrote this a while back and left it on the shelf because the lyrics needed a lot of work and it is very Beatles-like. A few years back there didn't seem to be a market at all for something that sounded this retro.Recently, I started resurrecting it with a lyric co-writer to have a Beatles (or similar) replacement track in my catalog. I see more opportunities for 60's replacements these days. How do you think this would do as a Beatles/60's style replacement track (with different lyrics)? The current lyrics are not crafted well and the subject matter doesn't fit that of an early Beatles song. We'll probably scrap most of them except the "piece of your heart" thing in the chorus.PLEASE NOTE: I am not soliciting input on the lyrics. I'm just curious how you think the music and the "feel" would work as a Beatles/60's style track.http://www.broadjam.com/transmit/transm ... sq=2Thanks CaseyYour such a lovely audienceWe'd love to take you home with usWe'd love to take you home

Re: A (Little) Piece Of Your Heart
Hey Casey,I'm neither good at the Beatles or the 60's era, so I may not be of much help. But... FWIW, it sounds like it fits the particular style of that era (if I remember correctly). I think it works musically & feel-wise. The background vocs are very reminiscent of that era. The guitar solo may be "too" good (and too clear & clean) for that period. It sounds more like today's acoustic guitar solo rather than a solo back in the 60's is all I'm sayin'. You might have to simplify it a little more. However, these are just my opinions. I could be totally "off" on this. Hope this helps.ibanez468

It is more that you would have heard (both melodically and sound-wise) from Harrison in a song like "And I Love Her" (for example) where he does that nylon string instrumental pretty much on the melody line.... probably out of character for this feel...Warmest, Casey

Casey,I might be 22, but I love The Beatles, and I think your track kicks ass, the only thing you're missing is the Liverpool (Scouser) accent... Even though the song sounds dated, I think it's still relevant to this era!!!!Brad

But so many film/TV opportunities have opened in the past 5 years or so for unknown artists/writers... Many of these are looking for songs that sound like they are from a specific era or replace a specific song, etc. This song will get a lyric re-write and new production. Instead of modernizing it (which may not even be possible with this construction), I want to make it what it really is-- a 60's style track. So, I posted it here to get feedback on just that idea.BTW, although right now I am committed to keeping it as 60's, does anyone think it COULD be modernized with this melody and chord structure? I'm just curious... Casey

Hey, Case, I really like this piece! You know what though? You will laugh at this, but I think if you did this up 'country' you could get a high bar Nashville foward! I know you think your lyrics are fully crafted yet, but I think they are!
