Hello Friends,
I currently work with ProTools 12.4 as my DAW. I am ready to add another DAW, Ableton Push 2 with Live 9.5 Suite because I want to produce EDM cues. Does anyone know how the sounds on Ableton Suite compare to the sounds on Omnisphere and the sounds on Nexus?
Black Friday along with holiday sales seem to have the best deals, especially if you combine products into your transactions, along with a little negotiating. I am preparing to make a couple transactions.
My question is: Does anyone know how the sounds on Ableton Suite compare to the sounds on Omnisphere and the sounds on Nexus?
Thank you in advance.
Steve

Why not demo Ableton Suite and hear for yourself? By reputation, there's very little you can't do with Omnisphere; Nexus, I don't know much about, maybe someone will chime in.

Steve, I don't have any of what you are asking.
My concern is that it is expensive to double up on buying another daw. I would probably work backwards by finding the best vsti's, synths or samples and possibly controllers for edm, and then determine if they could be used in the daw I have, in this case Pro-tools.
Omnisphere, Nexus, but then there's also Native Instruments Komplete packages that are maybe more versatile for the buck??
And then for the controller aspect, there are really just so many to pick and choose from.
If I understand it correctly, Omnisphere and Nexus are like very powerful synths with "sounds" that are like presets and some with samples. But Komplete has synths and sounds in units like Massive and Reactor, Razor... plus there is also a sampler Kontakt and the various instruments for it. The sampler aspect is more universal with Native Instruments. My guess is that there are probably more 3rd party presets and sounds available for the NI synths/samplers than either Omnisphere or Nexus. Though someone really immersed in edm might own them all??
Someone that has them all is more qualified to comment than I am. I'm just here for the money-saving aspect, lol!

Kontakt is a sampler with advanced scripting capabilities and access to loads of proprietary and third-party instruments; Omnisphere is a multi-synthesis engine/ROMpler with tons of raw materials included for sound mangling. Either of the above will run in nearly any DAW and in standalone mode, so you wouldn't need to learn a new DAW. Either of the above can be expanded with new sounds. Native Instruments has a number of products in its Komplete bundles that are suitable for EDM, but I think Kontakt would not be my first purchase for doing EDM-I'd lean toward Omnisphere for that. If you're doing loop-based genres, Ableton's great for that, but as a full-featured DAW in its own right, there's a significant learning curve. I have Ableton, but not the suite, so I can't weigh in on their instruments.
