Acoustic Guitar dispatch Listing..Am I On Track?

Post by mobster85 » Wed Nov 25, 2015 11:47 am

So this is a work in progress but I think I am close to being done. Have to clean up a few things. Is this on the right track for this listing? Let me know and thanks for the help.

ACOUSTIC-BASED INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by a Non-Exclusive, Boutique Music Library feeding music directly to an award winning show on a major cable network. They’re looking for Mid-Tempo Acoustic Instrumental Cues that are light, and lay nicely under scenes with simple dialog. Please listen to the following references to get in the general stylistic wheelhouse of what they’re looking for:

“Relaxing Background Guitar Music”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xv1Yx3eFnEg

“Music for Study, Work”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELyA_L9 ... _826560447

“Pop Acoustic Chill Out”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9jZRzwSFm4

Although the references have vocals, please submit Instrumentals only for this pitch.
Please submit well-crafted Cues that can work in a variety of scenes and have a simple, light mood that doesn’t lean too far one way or the other. Acoustic guitars, pianos, drums with brushes, and arrangements that vary from solo instruments to a four piece band would all work really well for this pitch. Avoid any instruments that have ethnic sounds, as they want the music to work for a really wide variety of possibilities. Build your Cue around a central melodic theme that’s flows organically. Add and subtract layers of Instrumentation as your Cue progresses to help keep the audience engaged, and stay away from anything overly busy or in such a high register that it distracts from the dialog.

Your submission should be at least 2 minutes in length. Buttoned/stinger endings are recommended. Do Not copy or rip off the referenced artist or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

This Library offers a NON-Exclusive 50/50 deal. You’ll get 50% of any applicable sync fees and 100% of the Writer’s share. The Publisher will get 50% of any sync fees and 100% of the Publisher’s share. You must own or control your Master and Composition to submit to this pitch. You’ll maintain full ownership of the original Copyright and Master Recording. Please submit one to three Instrumental Cues online or per CD no later than 11:59PM (PST) on Friday, November 27th, 2015. TAXI #D151127AM

Hi Bob - I'm new to the forum and have yet to have my work forwarded, so take my 2-cents as warranted. First, great playing and very nice finger picking style. To me, I would suggest adding an additional chorus to break up the song as it seemed a little repetitive for 2 minutes in length. I like the song and it has some great moments but I dosed off in a couple of spots. Best of luck and as a fellow guitar player, please feel free to check out my page and weigh in with your feedback. https://soundcloud.com/david-w-taylor-1

Hey Bob,

Nice playing.

I'd cut some of the bass frequency out on the those lead lines (for example, 0:10 - 0:15). It's not consistent, but every once in awhile those bass notes are overpowering.

As far as the listing goes, I think it works. I'm not hearing anything in the mix personally but my speakers I'm listening aren't the best right now so maybe I'll have a different reply later.

Here is the final version with a couple of changes. I backed off of the bass in the melody eq. Hope this works. I played the melody with my thumb.

Nice 1 Bob! :D
It could be as easy as High passing the low end of the reverb, it might be doubling up all of that bass range.
I would start there first and then check the bass on the guitar...
