AI-tool helped me in library-deal
Hi,
i'd like to share a recent encounter with the AI-tool moises and my recording of this song in 2017:
Nel Cor Piu Non Mi Sento
Due to the genre (classical Italian Opera) we had to record it live in a church with classical guitar, vocals and reverb.
Last week, I finally got a deal with a music-library that TAXI hooked me up with years ago. When I submittedd the song I mentioned that there will be no stems. Then, after it got accepted I thought of the APP moises I work a lot with on my iPad for my students.
They have an option to generate stems in "HIFI resoltution" so I tried it on this song. It worked out fantastic! Maybe it's from the fact that there's just guitar and vocals to handle, I can't hear artefarcts like I'm used to with full-band-songs.
This will have an effect on my workflow on future projects. I just recently recorded classical flute+guitar with playback. That made it extremely difficult for the flute player to follow the changes in Tempo etc. Now I would record both instruments live and use AI afterwards to separate the instruments again to get a more "musical" track.
Any thoughts? Hope this inspires you folks like it did with me.

Cool use of the tech. This is why we want AI...not to replace us and write the music but to help us deliver a better product.waltergrund wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2024 8:29 amAny thoughts? Hope this inspires you folks like it did with me.

Very nice recording and performance.waltergrund wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2024 8:29 amThey have an option to generate stems in "HIFI resoltution" so I tried it on this song. It worked out fantastic! Would love to hear the stems to judge the AI.
One test I would do though is to take the stems into a DAW session and hear how well it replicates the original track.
That's what a library generally asks for when it asks for stems

Stem separation is something that I have only recently gotten into, starting with the new stem separator in Logic Pro 11, and now with a program called RIP X Pro. While NONE of them are perfect for full band recordings with mics, bleed, etc, I am about to try to "stem remaster" a poorly recorded (ADATs) track from the early 90's for one of the vintage briefs on here.... Yes, AI generated tech like this can be a very useful tool!

I agree with Mark 100%. The composers that do not run away from AI, but use it as another tool in their toolbox, are going to have an advantage in the coming months, years, etc. I know it is Apples to Oranges, but remember when the synthesizer was the end for every musician? Or the drum machine? The sampler? Now they are just tools. Plus, I prefer to bow and show fealty to my future Digital Overlords now! lololcosmicdolphin wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 12:38 amCool use of the tech.
