am I crazy?
Ok... I've been playing around with this as a game show instrumental thingy... don't think it works for that, but just wondered if it works at all...I Got It - http://www.taxi.com/vikkiflawith

Re: am I crazy?
If I heard it behind a TV commercial I would just make my mental notes as usual, so I do not feel it would be out of place there. You just never can tell. I am doing some music for a video on surfung. I submitted some stuff and the one I was least sure about is the one he is wild about.

Re: am I crazy?
I like it. Personal taste: Change drum patches to something more arabesque, maybe a laid back tom-tom layer, congas, various perc, get fussy about stereo imaging on the remix, and setting this whole perc pocket culture farther back in the mix. Wouldn't change much else. The loose spontaneity of the vocal tracks are like watercolor impressions of something in your head -- don't know if I wanna know They have a dripping, dropping lilt that is unique. Who sang the descant whaaas in the background? Nice power, edge and vibrato. If that was you, I haven't heard you cut loose like that before. That voice is very marketable. best,bc

Thanks everyone! I fooled around, edited tracks, & effects, etc., posted a remix. Don't know if it's 'watercolour impressions of something in your head' but I think it's a little cleaner. It's supposed to be 60 secs of slightly wacky fun And yes, that is me on the 'whaaas', recording vocals after dark when it's all quiet outside... that's what I get up to at night... (it pays to be single....) and thank gawd the neighbours' bedroom is at the back of the house

I don't know if my opinion is useful to you anymore but...I could definitely hear this on a soundtrack of a film. Very creative. If I had to critique something I would just say the waa waas are a little too forward in the mix...but that is just my preference.God bless

Vikki, You have just got the best voice, really pleasing timbre. I think you got the "unique" covered well in this one. At first listen I wasn't crazy about the echo or delay voice, but now I think that it is one of the most interesting parts......good job.On another note.....I REALLY like "Wilted Hearts"!, your voice is tops, so maybe that's why I'm partial to this song. I listened to all your songs.......liked 'em all. Did you submit Data Schmata in the scientific/medical listing? FWIW Steve

Glad you like 'Wilted Heart' - it the first song I posted online 4 years ago and it's been rewritten & reworked several times. So nice to hear it meant something to you.Yep, Data Schmata was submitted to the sci/med listing - screener said -- 'on target for this listing', 'well-recorded', 'sounds like you're familiar with the style of background music they've asked us for here', 'Layers and synth ideas flow easily over the groove here and this is a good direction for seamless cues for filmTV', but it was not forwarded because it doesn't have a 'unique and compellingmelodic idea' or 'distinctive motif'. Hmmmm. I'm not sure if I agree with that... I think it has melodic components & counterpoint, but they are soft and understated because I composed it to be background music. But perhaps I misunderstood the listing. East Coast Production Music Library/Publisher is looking for SCIENTIFIC/MEDICAL INSTRUMENTALS for use in TV, film, radio, corporate videos, commercials, etc. Pretty open musically, but think of tracks that convey quiet intensity (operating room scenes) to urgency (ambulance/emergency room) to positivity (research/laboratory scenes). Or perhaps there was just too much competition from you fabulous folks out there
