Seems it cannot be replicated exactly - from the devs about the character plugin from which the vocal one is derived.
"That´s because the CHARACTER will analyze the input signal and adapt. It´s definitley not just an EQ... you are right.
You would have to automate an EQ and a Compressor with skilled ears and fast fingers to do what the plugin does.
Thanks! Dirk. "

I will be giving this plug a miss - maybe later when its on sale - its not a must have for me.
I created a similar effect that I actually preferred as it sounded more natural.
I put this on an aux fader to add a bright air.
hpf 48db @ 1k -> 4 band multiband comp x set to 1k, 5k 13k threshold down to get some reduction then use gain of bands to balance to taste -> bbe harmonic exiter h82 -> bbe sonic maximizer d82 -> mild compression
bbe also on demo so I might get that?
bbe sonic studio is approx $70 and useful for a few things.........seems better bang for the buck.

I bit the bullet and got the vocal plugin to use on a song project. I like it so far, but you have to fine tune the settings very carefully to avoid harshness or other undesirable results. Because the vocal I'm dealing with has some continuity problems, I've had to automate a number of settings on the plugin. So far, the results have not been entirely successful, but I'm still working on it!

It definitely makes a difference for the better. The vocal track I used it on has more life and presence. I also placed an EQ and Limiter underneath the vocal plug to further shape and control the sound. It's still not perfect, but that's probably equally attributable to the source recording and my own mixing capabilities. At some point when the song is finally done, I'll post it and you can judge for yourself, for better or worse.jdhogg wrote:Hows the plug going?
