Re: America's Got Talent -- Why not?
Hey Aub! I didn't see my comment there, so I just went back and posted TWO more!! Hahaha!! That will teach them if they try to ignore any more of my brilliantly crafted posts... It would be great to see you up there on stage. And either way, it's a great video-- very funny, Aub! Laughed my socks off (and they don't come off easily either). I'm watching to make sure these last two posts show up. Good luck to you, Aub!! Brave one you are!!! Raags

The work trip got canceled and I couldn't work out the logistics to get to the audition... so I submitted by video. They don't take original songs unfortunately. I know it's a long shot, but it was fun putting this together.

I understand how having friends work. This thread is a prime example of why musicians should never ask their peers for opinions on their craft. This just isn't how to go about this.Aub Delane do you want the brutal truth that the "industry" will never tell you, or are you content with your friends opinions/lies? Your thread starter never really asked for opinions or review, but more or less was just a "this is what I did." Do you want a REAL objective view on this? I'm asking permission since you did not ask and I don't ever wish to offend anyone.

If it were a work in progress then, as many times in the past, I would have posted in peer to peer and asked for input. It was an off the cuff idea, one take on the video, intended to be a little tongue in cheek. I'm my own worst critic. I know it ain't perfect -- far from it. It is what it is -- I thought it was just campy enough and funny enough to share. It's bordering on insane that I even submitted it. There are a buzzillion things I would change about it.I of course appreciate all the kind words and give those I know credit enough to know they wouldn't lie to me. That doesn't mean I necessarily agree with their assessment. Like I said, nobody is harder on me than me. I also am aware of the silence among many of those around here who haven't commented. I "hear" that too. What I don't give a rip about is some newbie who want's permission to tell me the "truth" that the "industry" is covertly keeping from me. Been there, done that. In fact, I could point you to another forum where such "help" is commonplace. But somehow I have this feeling you might already know that. Aub

I was going to leave my post respectable, but instead, I say this...I've been an attorney specializing in the entertainment business for the past 25 years. You haven't "been there, done that." If that statement were true, this video would not be presented here. Instead you have been cuddled by your "friends" and coaxed into believing you are something you are not. I don't care about another site. I don't care about all of this crypto language you guys speak referring to (I'm guessing) other folks who have told you how it is.I respectfully asked your permission to give you my thoughts on this performance from the perspective of those who would decide if you made the show or not. Why? Because I know THEM. YOU felt inclined to attack me.Do you want the real world or not?Frankly, it doesn't matter now. You have revealed your type. That is another one crossed off the list of my 2 and a half decades of experience. It's a take it or leave it gig. Like I've suggested to a few others who have arrogantly attacked me for voicing professional opinions... ...ignore my posts and go on as you would.Arrogance is the #1 downfall of all the creative.

Re: America's Got Talent -- Why not?
Lestinal,There's no reason for this discussion. This is a stupid audition for a reality TV show. There's no reason for a self important diatribe from either of us. The newbie part had nothing to do with your experience in the industry, but your 30 posts here - then jumping in like a savior from the evil opinions of my "friends and family". I've been on this forum a while. Nice to meet you.I'll be happy to engage in a conversation on something serious, but lighten up man. If you feel the need to blast, blast. I'm a big boy and will probably agree with much of what you might say. But get off the "I'm being attacked" band wagon.Geeze these messiah complexes are annoying.... Glad I don't have that particular flaw. It's much easier just being arrogant and AUBniscient. And did I mention AUBsome. Aub (tongue firmly inserted in cheek).
