An Autumnal Song
Hi All, I wondered what you might think of this "seasonal" song .. well it is autumn now .,. and one of the loveliest times of the year here in Scotland. What I've tried to do is compare the beauties of the autumn day with the beauty of a lovely girl .. and the girl wins out this time Shades of Gold and CrimsonAs autumn leaves now burn in shades of gold and crimsonShadows fall upon the hills that lie so nearBut you my love, reflecting natures glowing coloursFar surpass the beauties we so gladly share.Oh my love, this day will stay with me Held secure within my heartand oh my love, this day will always bethe day I knew we’d never partThe river flows in liquid shades of gold and crimsonUpon the bough the rowan berry softly growsBut you my love, accenting natures sweet perfectionShine beyond the sunset’s gaudy, gilded showOh my love, this day will stay with me Held secure within my heartand oh my love, this day will always bethe day I knew we’d never partThe sun descends in fiery shades of gold and crimsonClouds attend and lilac gently moves to blackBut you my love transcending natures fleeting patternHold me now, perpetual, safe from life’s attackOh my love, this day will stay with me Held secure within my heartand oh my love, this day will always bethe day I knew we’d never partIf you'd like a listen .. the song is "Shades of Gold and Crimson" on my Taxi page at : http://www.taximusic.com/hosting/home.p ... oonmusicIf there's a better or easier way to link to the music, please let me know. Best WishesKevin

I think this is just bloomin' beautiful! If there are any appropriate words to describe it better than that, they can be found within your lyric. OK "breathtaking" that's a good one!Linzi

KevinI read your lovely words and wondered how someone could sing them And then I listened and learned just how.Lovely work here and the penny whistle and pipes at the end are just magic. The single snare hits in the second half of the song.... I wondered why. 2c.Liam

Hi All, wow .. I'm bowled over by all your lovely comments . I'm really glad you enjoyed the song ! To answer some individual points Linzi - thanks, I tried hard to convey a sense of beauty in the lyric I'm glad I succeeded to some extent Dave - I've spent a lot of time in both Edinburgh and Stirling and in fact have a gig in Edinburgh on 30th November. In Princes Street Gardens no less... luckily in a Marquee rather than open air.... coincidentally .. I drive an Audi too
..... "I've heard this track on Audi Village" Liam, the single snare hits were the closest I could get to a sound I could hear in my head as I was building up the track, I'll maybe have another go at getting it, or I may even just leave it out JChitty, if you liked Shades of Gold and Crimson because of its Celtic influences (We'll stick with that rather than Irish or Scottish ) You might like some of the other Celtic influenced tracks on my page, please do feel free to have a listen.Matt, that sure is a mixed heritage you have there ! .. A MacViking for sure ! Thanks AllKevin

Beautiful work Kevin! Very nice chorus melody.I agree with Liam about the single snare not being quite right. The first time I heard it I thought maybe someone had dropped something during the recording of the track.Cam
