Re: an UN-PROTEST song
Billy, you're just oozing with gutzy tunes man. This is great, "Hey take that wheel" great hook! My only insight might be to go with a trad harp setup and not use the same micing setup as the verse vocals. Nothing is as mind blowing as a tasty harp lick though a overdriven tube amp with a touch of delay and a SM57! Just my opinion but I found the switch from vox to harp to be less than what I think it could be cause that harp bit could take this tune over the top mate!

Re: an UN-PROTEST song
thanks! You know, you're right about the harp & I wish I hadn't used that set-up. I might try messing around with it a little bit but the main problem is I was just ad-libbing & got in the "zone". . . I like what I played & probably can't duplicate it, but there's no harm in trying. Thanks for the listen.

I know just what you're talkin bout! I try (whenever possible) to split my signals, one dry and clean and one or more with the setup of choice. Harp is totally an ad lib instro for me and I can seldom do the same thing twice but man when you hit the zone it's power is unmatchable for rock music! I'm a Bushman Delta Frost fan w/Phosphor Bronze reeds, VERY gritty! I've got a Bushman for every key and love'm... http://www.bushmanmusic.com if you're ever interested in the gritties harps on the market! (I'm not affiliated with them at any level except a HUGE fan of their work and I've played most of the top diatonics on the market).

WTA, thanks for the link. I use Lee Oskars & have a couple with blown out reeds. The prices on the Bushman's seems about the same so I'm going to spring for one to check out. Thanks again!

Man the Delta Frost BLEW me away (pun fully intended) when I tried it, the tone was untouchable. I've played Lee's, Hohner's, ect and they're good to but these reeds that the Delta Frosts have, mmmmmm....

ok billy--i aint looking at all the dudes/dudettes up there, so here goes....i love the tune...impeccable lyrics, impeccable music, but..........damn if i can't hear (even on my cans) the phone-ic lyrics, they just aren't clear enough, and those words are damned important.... is it your first mix, or am I GOING deaf....don't know, just can't clearly hear the cool "through the tube" sound/lyrics--if i'm the only one, screw me...the best, warren

Re: an UN-PROTEST song
Actually good call Heinzy I forgot to touch base on the clearity issue. I love the effect but I often miss the vocal clearity thing cause I focus on the emotion more than the lyric (I'm a blues vocalist at heart and I hate to say it cause someone gonna kick me backside for saying it but vocals to me are ALL about emotion and if someone can understand what you're saying then that's a bonus! LOL! I am changing with W. and y'alls help though...).
