Watch the link above, you will be amazed!

Evertune and True tempered fret is the way to go! 100% mechanical, no need for digital autotune or whatever digital thing one can imagine.
I watched it...WOW!!!

...I want an Evertune!!!!!!! http://www.evertune.com/

Stuart
The great thing about Evertune is that it's all mechanical!! No machine, no robotic autotune or whatsoever!
It's feathers compensating for the string pressure.

BUT! To get the perfect pitch, you must use a true-tempered fret board as well.

This is really a revolution. You can set the evertune to pretty much whatever you'd like. Everything from bend stop to extreme bending positions.

There are some limitations though; it's difficult to quickly change tunings, and you can't use it with any known kind of tremelo bar. It's definitely cool and useful kit, but probably not for the 'get everything from one guitar' crowd. There is also no acoustic version, so it still pays to learn to tune. ;)

Yes, I know what you're saying here. I'm getting quite fed up with hearing EVERYTHING Autotuned/Melodyned.

Well, I have a stock USA Stratocaster which sounds amazing and I'm loathed to alter it. I'm a rare guitarist who is actually happy with his guitar sound. However, I do like the idea of solving the tunning problems.

I discovered many years ago that vibrato sounds best (to my ears anyway) when I go from pitch, slightly sharp then back to pitch (ie. not below then above the pitch), even on vocals. I mean, just like when you bend a note on any stringed instrument. Therefore, I have my bridge set up so I can pull the pitch of all 6 strings up slightly when I play a chord...I love that sound!! Otherwise, as you know, if you leave the bridge flat on the body, you can only forces all strings DOWN in pitch. :(

But....my current setup puts my tunning out! :(
And...if I break a string: the whole guitar goes out of pitch because the bridge is suddenly pulling too hard on all strings...arghh! VERY embarrassing at a gig...

Once Evertune create the vibrato bar version for the Strats...I will buy one, can't wait actually. I may even consider the new true-tempered fret board...one step at a time.

Thanks for posting about this Alexander! :D

On a Parker trem bridge, that's less a problem, because it's on a leaf spring and you can lock it down, in the event of breakage, (this works best in down-only mode) but the drop-in solution for Stuart's problem is called a Trem-Setter, made by Hipshot, who also make several varieties of bending mechanisms for Tele-wranglers who want to make pedal-steel sounds. The Trem-setter provides an adjustable detent for floating Strat-style trems, with an added bonus of nearly eliminating the trem "gargle" inherent to most floating tremoloes. The downside is you lose a little smoothness, so it's better for whammying a pitch that's already been raised or lowered with the bar, than for actual vibrato, for which nothing beats a Bigsby vibrato arm. The nice thing about the Bigsby's wiggle is it's more like a vocal vibrato which goes above and below the target pitch, but you can wobble in either direction, and favor whichever you choose. (you just can't dive bomb without going severely out of tune, in most cases, but there are some tricks, like locking tuners and roller bridges that can help)

Alexander,

That VGS link you posted really got me excited. A guitar with both evertune and true tempered frets would be the ultimate for rhythm guitar. I did some searches and found it available in the UK. Price is pretty reasonable. I've been trying to find a US dealer that sells VGS.
