Seriously, here in the mid-west therapist aren't really in high demand. I can't speak for NY or LA. So, I think your perspective of most of americans having a shrink, is way off.

Agree.........We only know America from series and Oprah But i get a feeling and noticed it myself, that Therapy is more common then overhere.I was on a vacation in Miami, years and years ago.And was amazed that adds on TV where about shrinks and other therapists offering their help.Don't understand me wrong, i am not saying therapy is not a good thing( can use it myself once in a while  )but it seems more accepted in the USA then in my country.....Overhere they are reacting freaky when it comes to shrinks....

I get dysthymia..... that means you get real pissed off at things easy and the behaviour of the rest of the world makes you bummed out... especially the lawyers... if I could hang out and smoke a dubie with some friends.... get a buzz every once in a while....without being a criminal... I wouldn't need therapy or the attending rations of MOAI inhibitor and SRRI prescriptions...... but the folks I grew up with became "responsible parents and adults" stopped getting high and are all uptight about it now..... its criminal , so its no fun.... and alchohol just doesn't cut it..... Oh the woes of the modern world..... gosh I miss the old days....

America seems like a sewer of pop psychology......seems like the fun of living has all but disappeared....all this 'be your personal best jazz' and self improvement fixation. I was Italy about 5 years ago....the Italians seemed pretty cool. If they got pissed off, they cussed you out, and they were your best friend the next day. Whatever happened to just being emotional sometimes (as long as you don't kill anyone ) and living your life and not worrying if you appear 'together.'

Well, I think the explosion of therapists out there came into being for a couple of reasons. 1) Is that it's the only place the hollywood elite and rich and famous could unload their frustrations and still keep them private. Americans used to be good neighbors, they minded their own business, they were always available to help a friend in need. Now, we have sixth graders stabbing people in school hallways, getting in to drugs, and having sex already. What the hell happened to having good parents? 2) It pays good.

Quote:never understood the american use of therapists ( remember, i am from the netherlands, we ban therapists and shoot shrinks  )It seems to us ( dutchies ) that americans all have therapists ??and a therapist to get rid of the rubbish that the other therapists tolled, and so on and so on and so on:lol:  :lol:Better idea to shoot the lawyers don't ya think?!!
I shall wipe every tear from their eyes....
