another one..a bit happy a bit bummed

Post by silvercord » Wed Dec 03, 2008 4:23 pm

wow two in a day makes me smile even wider...i got one song forwarded and one returned on this listing...ADULT CONTEMPORARY SONGS in the wide range of Michael Bolton, Barbara Streissand, Seal, Annie Lennox, Peter Gabriel, Sting, Whitney Houston, Josh Groban, Celine Dion, etc. are wanted by an established Music Publisher in Los Angeles. This company specializes in Film/TV and has signed & secured placements for many TAXI members. While the stylistic approach can be widely varied, they'll be looking for original songs that have a "timeless" quality and overall tone - no covers, please. Lyrics should be universal enough as to apply to a variety of situations/scenes/characters. Performances and the sound quality must be excellent (solid demo recordings are okay as long as the quality is there). They offer a non-exclusive, 50/50 split deal - you keep your original copyrights. Broadcast quality needed. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received by November 10, 2008. TAXI #S081110ACim very thankful for the critique..it was pretty helpful..sadly...it was forwarded to a company that i have submittedthe said forwarded song to in the past...and it was rejected...of course we dont know which companies we are submitting toso this is always a pain in my butt. I am not saying its taxi's faultthough... it's just that i get all excited when i see the email thati have been forwarded...then to see which company it is and then i swear in disappointment haha~I am trying to keep positive and hope that this forward willshine a bit brighter as a song to the company, than my 'standard' submission in the past~i do think the ten bucks was worth it though...here are some things that my listerner wrote:If I could send a song just on the atmospheric shape and essence of it, this would qualify. But the much more Euro/UK style and sound of this and ethereal vocals is not quite the same as pure AC ala Michael Bolton, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Josh Groban in the USA sense of soulful, dramatic vocals in upfront fashion as usually associated with artists like that which are the artist template here. But this is such a strong song as a song, I'm still gonna take a chance on it. "Overall Comments"Hey Geoffrey; Very impressive duo of songs gets you a forward based on the strength of the overall song craft, even though it's a bit of a stretch by the criteria in play here. I actually like both songs a lot for similar reasons, but in the end the extra added similarity of the lyrics and theme of "I Can't Breath" to a Jordin Sparks hit "No Air" became the deciding factor there, whereas "Dreaming My Life Away" navigated the obstacle course to a forward in the end. But well done by any measure, and surely an impressive showing of your potential for this and future pitches the forwarded tune was "dreaming my life away" (the orig. mix)and can be found here: www.taxi.com/silvercordpeacegeoff

Congrats Geoff!Hey, you never know, just cause the song was forwarded to a place it was rejected before, doesn't mean that the same person will be listening this time. This industry does have an extreme amount of job swapping.Good Luck!Bob

I just love "Dreaming My Life Away" It's a really good song. As Bob says just 'cause it got rejected once doesn't mean it will be rejected a second time.Congrats on the forwards..Derek
