Re: Another Peculiar Return ala Craig Morgan
Imo, the biggest roadblock with this song is that the timing is off. This song is one that is better suited before or at the beginning of a war, not 9 years into one. The mood is too upbeat and uptempo. When the mood was we're gonna kick butt and let's support our troops, I get it. The mood is more somber now, we've outspent a country or terrorists whatever they are a billion to one, outgunned, outmanned, and it's still not over. Every Sunday I see the names in the paper of our troops who have lost their lives, this song imo doesn't convey the mood of those thinking about and supporting the troops at this time, not for me anyway. A couple of weeks after the rubble, we were resolved to build back and quickly return to normal, to show the terrorists our strength, 9 years later the holes are still there empty. The 911 heroes whom endangered their own lives saving others, were downgraded to "first responders" when they sued NYC for their injuries. To just assume this song would be well suited to Craig Morgan just because he was a veteran is a little patronizing if you ask me. I would be honored to have matto critique one of my songs, it would probably save me a lot of embarrassment in the end. There's a time to argue, and there's a time to shut up and listen, because you are not going to argue people into buying your song. It's likely everyone is wrong, and in that case, I would sell the house, gather all your savings, make some cd's and tour the country. Certainly everyone was wrong about Johnny Cash making a record in Folsom Prison.

No it's not like everyone is wrong, however, you clearly are. Thanks for your brilliant input just the same.

I"m still trying to figure out the "Cane" reference myself. I wonder if Tbar is actually referring to Cain?Tbar wrote:Sure...whatever you say, Cane.

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

Cane is defined as "tall, perennial grasses with flexible, woody stalks". I'm not seeing the comparison...mazz wrote:I"m still trying to figure out the "Cane" reference myself. I wonder if Tbar is actually referring to Cain?Tbar wrote:Sure...whatever you say, Cane.

Talk about generalization and cliches...but who said anything about exposing Cane as a fake? Someone of his expertise must have his music out on the web? You too, Dave. Would love to hear you're music....for instructional purposes, of course. Figuring your a top country musician with many placements?Just watch TV or go to the movies. Really... "exposing Matto as a fake" really isn't something where you'll enjoy a high degree of success.
I have learned over the years that not everyone in the music business who critiques and criticizes has your best interest at heart. I've already had publishining success without Taxi, and know I will stand a far better chance on my own than with any of Taxi's help.

OK... just to defend my honor as a composer and musician. I hate to pull out the big artillery like this but here's a contemporary minimalist piano piece that I wrote a few years ago, performed live in my hometown...

I didn't get my money back yet. I still still have to send my letter, but hopefully they will be honest about that. Concerning blind faith and trusting others with your money...we'll let's just say the kind of faith that is required here would be pretty powerful if used for God!Glad to see you got your money back Tbar !! If you have more success with out Taxi more power to ya !! it seems like no one here wants to see the truth about the screeners screwing up and giving bad opinions causing alot of people to waste money !
