I ADORE big band music, having played it since I was a teenager (oopsie -- I forgot to pay attention to 70s and 80s music while living in those eras!) . . . I love their verses and the tight vocal harmonies. Here are a few favs:Cocktails for Two (Spike Jones -- precursor to Allen Sherman & Weird Al):

Classic piece, Michael.....Duke was just so rich and elegant.....thanks for posting that. Cool list you have there too, Suz....I always loved the Andrew Sisters, and Tex Beneke's "Chattanooga Choo Choo is one of my all times faves....good stuff.I have just about every Sinatra song....'Witchcraft' is just so good! I'm crazy about "Young At Heart" and "One For My Baby"(and one more for the road)" too. When I was a kid, my mother always had her big 'ole console stereo on....I love music with lush string arrangements....it's funny, but when I make my Band In A Box demoes, I always somehow manage to put string arrangements (no not fiddles, hehe) in there, even on country songs. In the 60's we had a regular diet of Henry Mancini, Percy Faith, etc. at my house. That music stays with you for life.
