Any Similar Experiences?

Post by Phen » Mon Aug 29, 2016 2:26 pm

Hi All,
I wonder if anyone has had a similar experience to the following:
About a month ago I had a song forwarded to publisher/record company. About a week later I got an email from the A&R guy. I was very happy to read that he really liked my song, and asked for more like it. I sent him two more and he thanked me and said he'd be in touch. That was 3 weeks ago. I'm wondering if anyone might offer some time line I might expect. I realize each case is unique and unto itself, but just curious if this has happened to any of you.
Thanks!

Yeah, that's not uncommon. Sometimes even happens with publishers you have an established relationship with. Usually means they're really busy trying to find work for their catalog which is exactly how we should want them to be. I'd wait another week and then follow up with a polite, friendly reminder.

Frankly, I wouldn't bug them. You don't want to be one of those writers who contact them unduly. If they are interested in signing your tracks you'll get an email with a contract, imo.

I think it's fine to follow up with a polite, friendly email if you've waited a few weeks. Just don't annoy them to death.

Thanks for your thoughts, guys. Maybe I'll give it a few more days and then touch base.
