Anyone going for the songs about states...

Post by daniel481 » Fri Oct 12, 2007 9:35 pm

...for the new dispatch looking for songs to play during the world series telecast? I wasn't sure if I'd do it, but I decided what the heck and now I'm working on one about Colorado. Just seeing if other people are attempting this interesting listing!Dan

No...I don't have the time to crank anything out. Good luck to you if you send in something. I'll have to keep an eye on the playoffs in all sports. It sounds like if the song gets aired, there is potentially a nice check...Maybe not a bad idea to start writing songs about states to have on disc somewhere to submit when the need arises...Charlie

Then when I went to your link there wasn't a way to view the lyric, so that didn't help. But anyway, you might do a re-mix and bring the vocal up some. I'm sure that's important on this submittal.Since the listing also said they needed positive songs about overcoming and the long road to success, etc., I went about this one a little differently. I wrote a song about baseball with a few hints of locations in the verses. I wrote a verse about each team and then did two mixes - one for Rockies/Red Sox and another for Diamondbacks/Indians. Of course, the verses are interchangeable so if it ends up Rockies/Indians for instance, I can just do another remix. We'll see what the screeners think, I guess. Here are a couple of links to listen to them if anyone is interested:http://www.driskellmusic.com/demo/leave ... eld_di.htm

Hey again, I just listened to your song. While I think that it has a cool feel and I like the lyrics, I think that it sounds a bit dated for this listing. It's what they consider a "high-bar" listing, and with those generally want something that sounds very close in style to one of their "a-la" artists. In this case they wanted contemporary pop-rock a-la Michelle Branch, The Fray, Snow Patrol, etc. And it's definitely uplifting, so it works for that segment of the listing, but I don't think that there are enough references to the actual cities for the other side of the coin...But who knows, that's just my two cents! Here's to both of us getting forwarded...Cheers,Dan

Well, I just got word that both versions of my song were forwarded to Fox Sports. So I guess it's passed the first step. Probably still a long shot though. We'll see. Probably won't know anything until the World Series is over. :/Dan, I liked your song a lot better with the words in front of me. Good luck! At least we know now that the ROCKIES ARE IN IT! WOOHOO!!!

When you get a chance, you might want to edit that before the big eraser comes down at ya... Great work! Casey
