Anyone heard from Taxi about the French commercial

Post by doctoreternal » Wed May 16, 2007 2:45 pm

It said they needed the songs on their desk by 5/15 (yesterday). Surely some of you have got a forward/no forward from Taxi? Does dispatch work different?Dr.E

Does dispatch work different?Usually, Dispatch notification takes around four days. This *might* be a different thing. The listing said that they had to have the tracks in the music supervisor's hands that day. Obviously there's no way for Taxi to review hundreds or maybe thousands of submissions in an afternoon. If Taxi isn't screening then normally the listing client is screening. However, I wouldn't be surprised if everyone got a "forward" since this listing appears on other sites, none of which have any screening process. If I'm the music supervisor in this rare situation, I'd get everything from Taxi at the end of the deadline day, throw those into the other "everything" piles back at the office and then just sort it all out later on my own terms. That's what I think I'd do. (Actually, that's NOT what I'd do. I'd use Taxi exclusively for great pre-screened music and I wouldn't mess with those other clods. )If anyone gets a "return", then I'm wrong. If we all get forwarded, then, well, we still don't know because we all submitted such good tracks.

I'm not a Dispatch member (yet), so I submitted through another outlet. It was pretty clear from the info I got that the client was the screener and I would be contacted directly by the client only if he was interested...not sure how that translates to Taxi's forward/return process.

Quote:My vocal scats didn't get through, but my instrumental with the piano and guitar did. That's the one you said you preferred Dave (Demo #1). You interpreted the listing better than me, since I thought #2 and #3 were better.NICE WORK! Congratulations! It's wonderful that we can actually hear something that was forwarded as well.

That kinda sucks. I do trust the TAXI screeners, but it seems like people who've had experience with commercials all say it's pretty much a crap shoot and that sometimes your weakest material gets picked, so it would have been nice if my ticket had at least been put into the fish bowl for this lottery.Oh, well.Oh, and nice pieces, Songwriter!Later,kc
