Here in Michigan, we have ArtPrize, which got some national recognition the last couple of years as one of, if not the largest art competition. This year they opened it up to music, and I was selected as one of the artists. It's all based on a voting system with cash prizes totaling $449,000 - first place wins $250,000.
There is no way that I will even come close to winning first place I am sure, but it is fun just to be a part of the competition. And If you are in West Michigan, please come to Artprize in Sept and vote for me
Artists come from all over the world to be a part of this event. It is really quite something.As part of the competition, you perform live at least once during the voting process (Sept 21-Oct 5). So I am using this event to try and sell the remaining copies of my last CD. I don't do a lot of promotion as my focus has turned away from live performances and CD sales.
