One of the libraries I write for is heavily BMI although they have ASCAP publishing. According to the owner, BMI pays on ANY properly filled out cue sheet. I was under the impression that ASCAP, my PRO, did likewise.
Then I see on ASCAP's website a listing of Cable networks and when they were surveyed. My concern: if this is true, then shows where my music is used won't be paid, correct cue sheet or not. Looking at my last domestic statement a LOT of networks where I know I have placements don't appear. And the ASCAP list is very small in comparison to the number of cable networks.
Anyone know if it's true about BMI? Or what's the deal w/ASCAP? Wondering if perhaps switching to BMI makes sense. Thanks.
