Ascap to BMI

Post by ronnie35 » Fri Nov 06, 2020 9:58 pm

HI I know I asked this before but, I want to move to BMI I am presently with ASCAP been with them since 2008.Pretty long. The only statement I have is a piece of music that is an international statement. at the moment it is only worth 58.74 this was back in 8/2020 Anyway i feel like I need to make a change. If I sign up with BMI Will I loose that international cue?

Ron :)

If you just do one single thing, and know for certain that one has a much better payout for that. Sure do the calculus and go for it. But if you do different types of music, I believe payouts will allign over the course of years.

It also may involve substantial administrative work, so why not just write a couple good cues instead with that time.. That would probably compensate for any payout differences for the next 10 years.

Nobody is making much right now, so dont sweat it, imho.
