Beach Boys --- In My Room

Post by ernstinen » Tue May 31, 2011 8:07 pm

Hi Guys,

I was going through some of my cover demoes, and found this chestnut, the Beach Boys' "In My Room."

For those of you that have never sung any Beach Boys in a band, it's really hard to sing like that, so I did my best. Brian Wilson is a fabulous vocal arranger!

All the best,

Ern 8-) :)

Thanks, Ken! Shows how eclectic I am in my musical tastes. Totally apples and oranges! Beach Boys & Foghat. Just like J.S. Bach to Nirvana --- How can you reconcile THAT!?

I appreciate you listening, as always!

Yup! When I was a kid I was a big Beatles guy, and didn't appreciate the Beach Boys much until the past 10 years or so. But then I got into horn bands, and that meant jazz, Coltrane, Miles etc. By college, my eclectic tastes blossomed, and Beethoven, Debussy, Stravinsky etc. rivaled Mozart and Bach. Then psychedelic rock, Hendrix, Clapton, Santana. Then, symphonic rock like YES. Later, classic big band singers like Bing and Sinatra. Finally, grungier rock like Neil Young and Nirvana. Even AC/DC, my guilty pleasure! Sooo, from Bach to "crotch rock" are my listening pleasures.

When Dave Walton and I took a drive to the ocean a few years ago, he was astonished by the CD collection in my car. Terry Riley. Allman Brothers. Elvis. Count Basie. Ozzie. Roy Orbison. k.d.lang. Van Halen. Charlie Parker. Supertramp. Phish. Willie Nelson. Morbid Angel (just kidding, but their drummer is great!).

And on and on....
