Well.I listened to all of it.I thought it was a beautiful piece of music. Well produced.It would be great for Film or TV. My only concern about that is that it is a bit long at 7 minutes. TV is only likely to use snippets of audio. Still who knows. I think you should try pushing it. I can't remember if Taxi have any limitations on lengths of tracks submitted. Perhaps you could pose that question to them.Well done with the song though. An effort well spent.

Thanks for listening . It is pretty long. I was thinking it'd be a good type of piece for performance. Think I'm going to try that route, after I clean up the score.Andy

Very nice effort, you are to be commended for your bravery in using Finale!Overall the orchestration was well done. In a few spots, the isolated woodwinds sounded sampled but that is one of the most difficult things to pull off. The chromatic scale in the flute was too perfect, in the future varying the velocity from note to note or a cresc. or decresc. over the length of the run may help. Also possibly using an RR stacatto patch might work.I heard some overlapping notes in the brass which is, of course, physically impossible for a real brass instrument.I wanted a bit more dynamic range, which, IMO would have sounded even more like a real orchestra. You have some very tender spots which would have been even nicer if they were much softer. Also, your dramatic, loud moments could have used a bit more "juice" from the percussion section.My comments are just my opinion and are based partially on my continuous learning process with orchestration and specifically EWQLSO.Nice job in Finale. That software is a real bitch to use but the output seems to warrant the wrangling, particularly in this case.Overall very nice composition. Keep up the good work. Mazz

Thanks for the comments. I really like Finale, but as you said there's a rough learning curve. I was using Finale's default velocities for dynamics and hairpins, and it's good to get a rough idea of the score- but it doesn't give a great end product. I had to create alot of custom expressions, and ritards, accelerandos and fermatas I haven't figured out how to customize yet. I just used the defaults. Sonar's great for editing and audio, but wow- you could go on forever...The beauty of Finale is you end up with a score. And, in the end, what could possibly be better than getting a live performance? That's my pipedream.Andy

You should get Allegro, a cheap version of Finale, and start messing around with it. That's how I started a couple years ago. Even if you don't read music real well, it's a great place to start.

That's really nice work, Andy! I could see this working in a visual medium. It paints nice pictures, which I appreciate in orchestral music.I love EWQLSO Gold. I'm just finishing up a piece using Gold with some other libs.Well done!Ern
