Now THAT's an hysterically funny statement after reading your posts. You sure spent a lot of time dissing Taxi's screeners for someone who isn't bothered at all.

Bear in mind, Casey, the TAXI Review Station's sub-heading reads as follows:

"Liked your review? Hated it? Let Us Know!"

So they're SOLICITING the input from a hated review.

Maybe my critique of the reviewers will cause them to 'up their game', then all the disgruntled passengers'll be happier, yes?

I suppose that it's possible that Stephen, Tom and Troy will read your post and thus be shamed into "upping their game" regarding their overall professional experience and Taxi screening abilities, but the best way to relay any issues regarding screening would be to contact "headscreener at taxi dot com" and make a specific list of your issues regarding specific listings, the music you submitted for that/those listings along with the critique/results and the screener involved. And... it helps the rest of the forum members when you post the results of that interaction with Taxi.

Just my opinion, but you "shoodBworkin" instead of "stirrinUpsh*t"

Threads like this are a huge waste of time and energy. If you don't like TAXIs "service", simply do not renew your membership. (assuming you're a member to begin with)

You are debating this subject with people who have just spent large quantities of quality time together in LA at the TAXI Rally. If you are trying to win this debate, it's hopeless.

If I didn't like my pest control "service" I would never think about getting on a public forum and question their chemists who concoct their secret formulas. I would just hire a different pest control "service".

Go back to work and up your game, and possibly all your issues, concerns, and arguments would disappear. It has occurred to me numerous times, that the people who have achieved success with TAXI don't seem to ever question TAXIs business model, integrity, or processes and people. AND, those are exactly the people on this thread who are responding to your provocations.

I won't be back to debate my post 'cause "IBworkin" and you "shoodB2"

I'm just being as objective as I can in order to draw out some more truth of taxi's tight restrictions. The more I object the more I learn from Casey, Mazz and others in the forum. It's the whole point of a debate or discussion methinks.

If we hold in our personal theories we can never get the truth and learn more.

In addition to that there is the case of trolling for the sake of it, recognizing the truth but being a bit ''tom PETTY'' about it and just annoying people lol.

At the end of the day I consider myself to be a staunch defender of this company but I need to object every now and then, not to hurt them but to help them, and it seems my posts in this forum havnt helped anyone  ...except me that is....

I encourage free speech. I also like facts. And when somebody objects to the screeners' opinions, they should post up the full listing, song, and critique... which the last time I checked was in the terms of the forum.

I don't take the complaints about being too strict or narrow too much to heart, as it's really what the industry demands from us. We do have a solution in 2.0 that will expose a wider swath of music, but it's still going to have to be exceptional. Nobody ever asks us to supply mediocrity.

When I order a meal at a restaurant, I want it to taste great. When I go to a theater to see a movie, I want it to be great. When people in the industry request music from us, they want it to be great. And in the case of film/TV, they ALSO need it to fit the scene. We can only go by what they THINK they need and what they ask us for.

It's not up to us to tell them they aren't describing it well. Maybe they are, maybe they aren't, but it's their film or TV show. It's their taste in music.

As for the screeners' credibility: that subject has been tossed around for the last 20 years. ALL of the people who screen at TAXI are highly qualified, and I invite you to drop in any day of the week (unannounced), and ask the screeners sitting at the computers what their credits are. I invite you to sit at one of their computers and crank out three critiques, and then let us post your work online to be compared with the work our screeners do. Let's see how the public votes.

As to the original poster who started the thread. Please post some listings, your submissions, and our FULL critiques so we can see how right you are. We're not above admitting when we're wrong. It's just unlikely that we're wrong most or all of the time. If that were the case, we'd have been out of business 19.5 years ago, and threads like this wouldn't exist: http://forums.taxi.com/taxi-success-stories-f7.html

I'm on my way to a dinner with a music supervisor for a show who wants to get "more involved with TAXI." My favorite kind of dinner. I hope the food is GREAT. I'll check back in the morning to see if there's some music, listings, and critiques to check out.

Thx,
Michael

Hi Michael! Examples? Here's one:

"Never whistle in a demo."

I don't even need to point to a song, as the comment isn't contextual, it's generic.
And it's not constructive criticism. It's a proclamation.

Here's another:

"Never title your song without first googling to see if there's another song by the same name."

The idea here is presumably to have me to give the song a less appropriate title then re-submit it (for another five dollars) then maybe it'll get forwarded. If the track is good why not just forward the darned thing and let the listing party decide if they want the name changed? Here again, it's not constructive criticism, it's a proclamation. A rather silly one imo. Here:

I'll take my forwards and returns naked, thank you for checking in, and for your time.

ShoodB:
What you haven't done here is post a full listing text, a link to the song submitted, the lyrics and the ENTIRE review.

For example, I've had reviews with comments I didn't agree with or even thought were silly. But the comment was one of many things in the review and not necessarily the main reason for return.

Maybe your whistling sounded awful? Maybe it was a pitch for a major country artist and your title was identical to a recent country hit? That WOULD matter.

I'm done here unless you post all the requested info. I hope others feel the same way.

So... you want to just spill sh*t or talk intelligently about your experiences?

Casey
