big, moving pads - which synths?

hi folks,I'm looking for a synth (preferably a vst-i because of the easy integration) with big, moving pad sounds.the sounds should be able to "stand on it's own", therefore it must stay interesting enough for the medicre listener. just sounds that have movements in it.do you know any cool vst-i that would do this job?thanks,martin

Atmosphere is very good for what you are wanting to do. It's a bit expensive but it also has some leads and basses in it. You can edit the sounds somewhat and make your own combinations of the different patches.If you use Reason, the Malstrom has some good sounds and you can stack them up with the Combinator.Off the top of my head, that's what I can recommend at the moment.Have fun!Mazz

I'll suggest Atmosphere too. It has a lot of very usable sounds. Like Mazz said, you can edit the sounds somewhat, but since it's sample based, you are as to how much editing you can do. However, with very little effort you can do some really cool stuff with it. Also, it is slightly processor heavy. You won't have any trouble if you have a kicking system, though.

Chuck,Thanks for reminding me about that one, I forgot about it and was going to download it!Filters and echos and reverb will turn almost any good basic sound in to a nice pad. Favoring the wet/dry mix to the wet side of an eko/verb running as an insert will work well.I did lots of this back in the 80s New Age/Ambient era.MazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Atmosphere is absolutely amazing for pads. Really, it stands head and shoulders above everything else. IF you are looking to program your own patches then you might invest in a synth like Zebra 2, which is powerful and easy to use, and also has thousands of factory and user created presets (plus commercial banks)... but for ease of use, Atmosphere.
