BMI & ASCAP Publishing

Post by che » Mon Jun 15, 2009 6:11 am

Hey everyone,We have a BMI Publishing account (plus writers accounts). We are under the impression that we can have an ASCAP Publishing account also. We know that we can't have writer's accounts with both companies, but have been told that we can have publishing with both. This supposedly should help when we are working with ASCAP writers. Anyone know if this is sound advice? Gonna do a little diggin myself, but thought someone on here might have a concise answer.Tricia

Hey Tricia,Yes, you should be able to have a publishing account with BMI as well. The library that placed my tracks with MTV has both an ASCAP and a BMI publisher account so that he can sign tracks from writers with both companies.Someone else may be able to give a more "official" response though.HTH,- Big Blue

My understanding is that yes, you can have a publishing account with both.

Yes you can but it would only be necessary if you want to claim (part of) the ASCAP writer's publishing...
