Borat!

Post by ernstinen » Sun Nov 12, 2006 8:06 pm

Ohmygod, my wife and I just saw "Borat" in a packed theater. I haven't laughed so hard since "There's Something About Mary." It's truly inspired! But DON'T take your kids --- a lot of people made it a family affair. I saw kids as young as 5 exiting the theater. It's rated "R" and it's a miracle they got that! Have fun --- Ern

Greetings Ern:I haven't seen the movie yet, but I'm totally digging the lawsuit filed by those college dorks who say they were duped into their drunkin' stupor by the producers, before spewing out their prejudicial garbage. Apparently, they didn't know what was going on?? Oh, okay...They also say they suffered "humiliation" and were tricked. I always love that one...I'm sure it was all the producer's doing and none of their own. It still amazes me how many people blame others for their own stupidity. It's no surprise their names aren't referenced in the suit. Hmm, wonder why that might be??In any event, I'm going to check out the movie for myself. Sounds like you enjoyed it...Blessings,

If those lawsuit guys humiliated themselves internationally to that extent, they could have just said they were acting. You know. Playing along with the script. All part of the show....never meant one word of it...all in good fun. Ha Ha. It's probably just a publicity stunt to get people interested to come out and see the movie because I don't think you can put someone on a movie screen without them first signing a waiver or a consent form of some sort. The movie was very funny in parts but the naked man fight was just gross. How can they do that? I mean, the whole world is watching them! No shame at all. Some people are born without much in the way of modesty. But I laughed...but for that part of the movie, it was mostly out of shock.

Actually...As I read the story, the parties stated they signed the releases and were then treated to a night of drinking with the producers. It was after that binge they stuck both feet in their mouths. They now claim they were duped, tricked, etc., into making the statements they did...Blessings,

I recently heard about a woman who put her camper on cruise control and then went to cook herself some dinner. Naturally, her camper left the road and crashed. She sued the company for not warning her in the manual that she couldn't do that. You guessed it. She won her case and received a lot of money in compensation. You never know how these things will end up.

Another woman has brought a lawsuit against the movie. She has Gloria Allred as her attorney. She is upset because she thought she was filming a show for air in Belarus. If she signed a release under the statement that this was a specific type of show, and it was something else entirely, it may be determined to be fraud. It seems to me that the producers of this film did set out to 'dupe' people into thinking they were being a part of something completely different from what it eventually became.I've worked in the film industry long enough to know that releases are a VERY important part of having anyone appear in what you're filming. This could cost them a whole lot of money...

Yea, she was one of the southern belles at the dinner table whom Borat showed his bag of business from the bathroom. Another guy who is suing is the driving instructor. He told Borat that he couldn't drink his pint of vodka while driving. Borat was incredulous. "What!?" People like the instructor just want money. He didn't look dumb like some of the others. As far as I'm concerned, serves all of them right for being so stupid. Ern

"But, your honor, I was "duped" into making those racially motivated, hateful comments about blacks. If they had told me I was in a movie that the whole world was going to see, and they hadn't offered me all of that free liquor, I wouldn't have been such a white-extremest-racist-college-fratboy...I'm really not like that...Why, I have a friend who is black..."

Well, we can forget about the Borat college dudes...Kramer (From Seinfeld) has stolen the spotlight with his own racial tirade...Blessings,
