I've seen a couple briefs now that state that the Music library wants to work with people already working with libraries.
Even though I feel like their music examples are right in "my wheelhouse", should I avoid submitting to these listings because I have not yet had a placement since I started in October 2024.
I don't want to waste the libraries time. Or mine.
What are your thoughts?
Thank you
John W Randolph

Hi John
By "haven't had a placement", I assume you mean you haven't signed any library deals yet. "Placement" usually refers to actual usages in TV/Film. If you've never dealt at all with library contracts and associated terminology and processes, you should not submit to these listings. The library has had too many bad experiences with people who, because of inexperience, are difficult or time-consuming to deal with. This, of course, is not too say that you would be difficult, it's just that they have no idea and had to draw limits.
I wish I had better news.
Best,
Casey

Casey, That's correct. I haven't signed any library deals yet. I've had 5 forwards but i haven't had a library reach out to me yet on those. I sure am looking forward to working with a library in the future. I keep a close eye on my "junk" folder.Casey H wrote: ↑Mon Apr 14, 2025 9:44 amHi John
