Broadjam: I learned something new!!

Post by Casey H » Mon Oct 02, 2006 3:21 pm

One thing I didn't like about broadjam is that if I sent people to my page they had to click "View All" to see more than 3 songs. I found this annoying if I sent someone to my site to hear songs. I always had to remind them to VIEW ALL, a link which is not very obvious IMHO. Did you know that there is a direct link to the page with ALL your songs? Mine is:http://www.broadjam.com/artists/artist_ ... stID=1256I called broadjam customer service and they told me this. See? it always pays to call a company's customer service! Thanks, Jesse...Learn somethin' every day... Casey

That's pretty cool, Casey...I've had passing concerns about screeners not seeing my songs when they don't appear in the top three, but I'm sure that they of all people would know where the "View all songs" link is!I'm still bothered by Broadjam's inconsistent streaming. I've discovered that this only happens when the player's page is not on top, but there are plenty of times when you might want to listen to a song while viewing a different webpage...such as a lyric sheet.I thought maybe this was because their player is Flash-based, but I use a Flash player call Wimpy Player on my site and I don't experience this problem. Maybe they just need to adjust their streaming bandwidth settings?Andre

But Jesse is really outstanding. Everytime I've had any problem, he's been quick to address it. I met him at the ASCAP conference last April.Nomi

The silver works nice, but imagine some nice browns and tans tying it all together! You can also match the background of the player's pop-up window to match the player if you like.PM me if you'd like to chat about this. Or, if you're perfectly happy with your current color scheme, that's fine too! Andre

I don't know if they go to your homepage or are sent a direct link to each song. Anyone know? I was concerned, however, about all the times I email industry people to go to my site to listen to tracks and have to emphasize in my email that they need to click on "View All". That has been annoying to me. I am sending suggestions to broadjam that (1) the type of link I posted above should have a simple, easy to remember URL such as www.broadjam.com/[your name]/songs... and (2) I love the TRANSMIT feature, it is one of their best features. But the links generated are very long and often break apart when pasted in an email message. I am suggesting that they research a way to make the link addresses more manageable.I like broadjam a lot. Although it works better than Safari, I've noticed the same thing with Firefox on the Mac. Not tried IE yet.Aub
