buyout deal
Had a publisher contact me a while back. One of my cues was sync'd up to an episode of an MTV reality show. The supe wanted to do a buyout, but that cue was already out there in play for non-exclusive placements (only 1 publisher has the track!). So, at his suggestion I evolved the existing track into a new unique cue and made a little scoobie selling it outright; just about enough to buy a cheap banjo anyway... All this from a TAXI forward that resulted in a deal that has led to about 20 placements now; lovin' it here!
