Can a screener write nothing? #309

Post by ebjazz » Fri Dec 11, 2009 10:36 pm

I just had a return from screener 309 and there was no box checked-nothing.
I've never seen this before except when it's a forward.
So is this common? Is it ok with Taxi? What am I paying $5 per song for? My first thought is that the screener didn
t even listen. How hard is it to check one box or even write two words?
IMO, there should always be some kind of feedback. Laskow is always writing about how much the screeners care
how much we can learn from them. What am I learning here?

Hey Eric, what listing was it for? IMO, even if it was a D or a no critique listing, the point of having a mini-critique is to indicate some reason for the return to assist the member to target better next time, etc.

It is a Y/N, but mini-critiques were developed at member's request to help us assess whether we were just off target, or there were production issues, or there were songwriting/composing issues. I'd suggest contacting TAXI directly in this regard.

I just spoke to Taxi and the guy said that with a Y/N listing not to expect any critique at all.

don't understand why we have a mini-critique then.

Something's not right here. While there is no critique, they are supposed to at least check a box as to why it wasn't forwarded. You may want to call back and explain that it was a Dispatch (Y/N) listing and no box was checked for reason for return and that's all you want to find out.

I think the term "mini-critique" can be misleading. It's really just some checkboxes. Some screeners will add a few words but that is optional.

That's what I asked the guy and he was adament about Y/N means just that; yes or no. The screener is not required to check a box. Kinda gets the screener off the hook because now he can reject just because he doesn't like your music, as opposed to being off target.

I say again, the point of having a Y/N mini-critique was to give members quick info on why the track was rejected. TAXI members requested this & TAXI came through. We need to know if our track was off target, or if it was rejected because of production issues or composition issues. Just an accurate tick in a box is all that we ask. A tidbit of info to assist us in figuring out the next step. So many listings are Y/N these days. IMO all Y/N or D returns should have something indicated. Otherwise why do we have a mini-crit?

However, if you wish, you could post in Peer to Peer, with the listing and a link to the track and forum members will try to help you figure out why it was returned.

To the best of MY knowledge, the screeners are required to check at least one box on Y/N and Dispatch listings. When people have gotten returns with no boxed checked, they have contacted Taxi and their results were updated.

Maybe someone at Taxi didn't give you the right answer for whatever reason. You might want to drop an email to Robin, the head screener and ask for clarification on the policy. I'm pretty sure you can reach her at headscreener@taxi.com.

I can't imagine they would have implemented this "mini" feedback thing and it be optional. That just doesn't make sense.
