Having lived in Nashville since 1980, the idea of exclusive deals where the publisher owns the copyright forever is not unusual to me.
I don't have a problem with it. That's what publishers do. I want to spent my time creating music. I'll let the the publisher spend their time getting me placements. In turn I'll spit things with them. Sounds fair to me.
Songs are my product I want to sell as much product as possible. I need the help of good publishers.
If you think this library is a good one I'd encourage you to go for it.

So much advice. Super helpful! Leaves me a bit confused but maybe I should, as was suggested, send in a few and see what happens..

Anyone still reading, have you heard of having songs sung by existing singers/bands. Is THAT an option??

Part of me, a big part, just says throw everything I got at that one library....easier...

Oh! Another question!! Do different libraries feature different styles of music!?

Thanks!!!

Graham

Most do various types of music. Some send out requests for specific types of tracks. Dig around a bit.....

Thanks to all those who posted regarding libraries and what the usual splits are. I was about to ask the same thing, as I recently was asked by a LIbrary (via Taxi) to sign a non exclusive deal for one of my songs. I ended up signing the contract and will see how things go. Thanks for taking the time to educate those of us who are new to this part of the business.
