Even though you have a complex rhythm base here, it fits the song well and doesn't make it sound overly busy or hard to follow.

Usually music like this sounds too background-music-y to me, but aside from possibly a slow beginning, this don't doesn't have problem. It does get repetitive with the same chord structure, but the melody is so good that I pretty much don't mind it.

Thanks Jeff, I appreciate that!

All my best,

Thanks!

Well I 'm not so sure myself either where to pitch this :) I had this idea lying in my HD for a while and I decided to make a song about it and this is the result :)

The snare for the first minute 1/2 was distracting to me, just didn't seem to sit in the mix like I wanted,
it didn't bother me as bad when it cam e back in at 2:05, maybe my ears got conditioned.

A little long for my taste, I could hear this in a National Geographic film or something, I guess there are plenty of ops to edit it down if you needed.
I guess my only suggestion would be to make that snare sit in the mix better.

Cheers,
Marc
Hey Marc,

you're definetely right about the snare, other's have pointed that out too. It's too 'in yer face' and I'm definetely going to do something about it :)

thanks for listening!

Maybe shortening the intro percussion a bit and getting to the meat of the composition would help. Would agree with the above comments about the snare. Seems a bit too "in your face" for this piece. The mix also sounds a little unclear causing me to strain to hear some of the really cool stuff you've got going. Not sure if this is due to You Tube's crappy player (not noted for doing justice to things) or a problem with the original mix. Cool piece though! I could see this being used somewhere.
Thanks for your comments!

Yeah, that snare is indeed going to under construction :)

About the unclear mix: can you be more specific? It could be my ears are getting tired or maybe I need a new monitors :) What kind of speakers/monitors did you use to listen it ?

Thanks again for listening :)

Hey Petez,

Sorry I have taken so long to get back to you. Actually, I am using Tannoy Reveals near field monitors. I guess the thing I was hearing is the pad sound that comes in at around 53 seconds or so. Wonder if making it a little thinner by eq-ing some of the low mids out would open up a little more space for the cool percussion and strings you have coming in and out. Just a thought. Really like the piece though!

ah ok.. I understand what you mean :)

Now that you pointed it out, that pad indeed takes quite a lot space from the mix.. I need to do some experimenting with eq's.

thanks for the feedback!
