Celestion G12M Greenback's for guitar?

Post by devin » Mon Mar 16, 2009 3:00 pm

I found a pair....8 ohm, 25 watt each. 75Hz bass resonance on the label.Heard enough good about them to pay $100 US for the pair in near-mint condition? Thanks all...P.S. I have a couple of options to drive them....a Marshall JCM 800 and a 1950-something Fender Concertmate 55 (detuned to about 40 Watts now from the twin 6L6's). I'm not looking to play live, just have more tone options in the recording spot.

Well worth the price, IMO. You'll probably get best results with the Marshall.

Had some Vintage 30's in a 50 watt JCM 800 combo and swapped them out for some old Jensens. Warmer tone, as will the Greenbacks have.I'm thinking of buying a 2x12 extention cab, and read about Weber speakers. Their Alnico magnet 25 watters are like Jensens and sell for $45 each. And an empty 2x12 cab from Lopdine.com is $179. Best deal I could find, except for my vintage birch closed-back 2x12 Ampeg cabinet which I'll NEVER sell! Yea, I'd pick up those Greenbacks in a second (if they're in good condition).Ern

Definitely pick those up....I had 4 of them in a cabinet and they sounded awesome...I'd pick them up in a jiffy, if I were you!
