Clapton/Winwood at the Hollywood Bowl

Post by onoffon » Wed Jul 01, 2009 4:33 am

Holy cr*p!!!! What a concert!!!The wife and I saw Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood last night at the Hollywood Bowl. We weren't sure if they would play separately but they actually played together for the entire night. Steve stole the show with a solo version of 'Low Spark of High Heel Boys' - just him and the grand piano - it was AMAZING!!!!My Brit rock roots were intact, though, when I seemed to be the only one in my section that knew all the words to the four songs they played from the Blind Faith album. hehehehe.....Clapton was great - Winwood was awesome!Great show!!!!

Very cool, Von! Wish I could've seen that show.I've seen Clapton twice --- Once with Cream when I must've been 14 or so. Wow! When Eric stepped on the wah-wah on "White Room" I thought I died and went to heaven. I was laughing and crying at the same time! The second time was later, when he was leading his own band. He's no showman, but what an incredible guitarist! Ironically, the opening act was Muddy Waters!Never seen Winwood, but I've always been a big fan ever since he sang lead and played a B3 on "Gimme Some Loving." I believe he was 16 years old when they recorded that! Thanks for the report,Ern
