Comedy instrumentals?

Post by orest » Fri Jun 20, 2008 5:07 am

I am wondering a bit about this listing (do they seek like Charlie Chaplin slapstick music or more contemporary?)NEW LISTING -- COMEDY INSTRUMENTALS are needed by an East Coast Music Library/Publisher that has signed dozens of TAXI writers over the years. This company has three feature film projects coming up and needs to gather a variety of quirky, light and fun instrumental pieces. You can think along the lines of TV sitcoms and slapstick or silly film scenes. An obvious melody is not required, but the arrangements and performances should be excellent. It's recommended that these pieces run between :60 and 3 min in length and broadcast quality is necessary -- excellent home recordings should be just fine. Their deal is typically an exclusive agreement with a 5-year reversion clause. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than July 28, 2008.

Being as they don't use the word Contemporary, something like slapstick music might work. I think of movies like "Mr. Bean's Vacation" (don't recall the exact title, but it's on HBO now), which uses some of that slapstick type of background music...I have a song that uses a calliope that gets forwarded 50% of the time for similar listings...still no takers though...H
