Quote:hi all!this is my first time at the rally and i am a bit scared and excited! i just have one question i was hoping someone could answer:do we register when we arrive there or do we need to register by phone beforehand??please le me know if you kowthank you and all the best, looking forward to seeing you DanaHi Dana,You need to register for the Rally by calling Taxi at their 800 number. Have your membership number handy, and your guest's name (and possibly address) - if you're bringing a guest. If you're gonna be staying at the Rally hotel, make your reservations soon, I think hotel reservations need to be made by Oct 8.All this information is in the header of your listings emails, btw.Oh, and there's nothing to be scared about , I'm sure you'll have a blast.

Please note you *must* register at the hotel by Oct 8th or you don't get the discounted Rally rate. Check your listing emails, all the details are there... if you can't find it, call Taxi.THen, when you get to at the Rally, you & your guest will need to "register" by picking up your tickets at the registration desk. To do that you (& your guest) will need to have photo ID.This will be my third Rally, and I think you will find that, while your first Rally can be overwelming, it is also inspirational & fun. My first Rally was also my first time in the big city of LA too.I'm thinking of picking up a cheap cell phone in LA & getting a minimal plan so forum members & friends can easily find me. (That being said, if you have a cell phone... please turn it off at panels and classes.) You'd also be able to leave a message for me at the hotel if you want to connect. Or just PM me here.cheersHummin'birdPS - there are instruments available at all the open mics. The only instance when you might want an instrument is in a jam. I took my guitar the first year but left it at home last year.

Hey Ted - I'm very happy for you - I'll be heading out from NM to the rally as well. I won't have a 65 Mustang to enjoy it with though!!Happy to see someone else from the Land of Enchantment will be representing at that rally. Can't wait to meet all of you there!Anne

So, Anne, since I know you went to the RR last year ... is there anything like a public message board anywhere in the RR hotel? Am going to be eager to meet you, but wonder --in all the excitement/confusion/energy-- how to try to find you (and Vicki and kg and squidlips and jchitty and......) Ted

TedWell, I don't want to seem like I'm not a team player, but I have some physical health problems that keep me confined to my home base. I never mention it that much, but folks who communicate with me via e-mail know about it. I can travel small distances, but Cali would be out of the question for me now.But who knows, maybe in the future when my health improves, I might attend a rally one day. Would be nice to meet up with you as well, Ted.

I'm not going either Chits. I'm starting to feel a little sad about it. Like a great road trip I can't go on. Maybe next year.

TedMy first Rally several of us on this board (and others) said, 'see you there'. And you get there and there's 1,200 people everywhere... and I never find some folks. Having a meeting place helps a lot. Last year we said, if we were free, we'd hang around the pool in the breaks. And I tend to go to Starbucks in the morning before things start up.HH
