You can record both to MIDI at the same time but only hearing one at a time seems counterproductive.Also, for me, constantly plugging and unplugging stuff is a waste of time. Mixers give more flexibility to a system anyway. You can plug headphones in to them and control the level of your speakers, etc. Mixers also allow for zero latency monitoring of what's plugged in to them and you can hear your keyboards without having to boot up your computer or plug it in to an amp (more plugging and unplugging, more time spent waiting for computers to boot!!) Yes, it's a little bit more money but a used Mackie 1202 would do nicely. Cheers,Mazz
