Contemporary Orchestra Electronic - mixdown?

Post by fusilierb » Mon Sep 29, 2008 3:01 pm

There is a call for a 60 second contemporary orchestra/Electronic instrumental that I want to submit this for.I'm having problems getting this mix to really work. I would love to hear any comments or suggestions. The following link is to my main taxi page. I haven't figured out how to link to just one song yet. Anyone? Until then, this one is called "contemporary Orchestra 60 secs".http://www.taximusic.com/hosting/home.p ... anfusilier

Hey - I think you have some excellent elements here, I think the issue may be that the elements are good, but there isn't one thing that really pulls my ear along. I think after the first two riffs 'up' that a action-oriented melody line (a la James Bond) should come in and soar over everything else.so I'd start the piece at (now) 6 seconds in, play through two riffs (to 21 secs now), add that killer a la 007 melody line... then, at (current) 31 secs, you might try using your first 6 secs with the electronica & build into your repeat & make that even more action oriented... he's defusing the bomb kinda idea.So right now it's A, B, C, B. I'm suggesting B, A/C, BIn terms of the production, the levels are very low for me & I have my speakers on max. If you want to rework it, I'd suggest doing the edits I've suggested and then turning all tracks to 0.00 db, and then playing with levels. (What DAW are you using?)I hope that helps. Remember, these are just suggestions. Decision is yours, cheersHummin'bird

That was an unbelievably fast response. Thanks! And you are absolutely right. I cut it up and rearranged it and that is much closer. I still hate the mix. It's all muddled up to me and I just can't figure out how to clean it up.
