Contract 1 year after the forward
Just got the message that my song " Liebe " which is a simple piano song will be signed by a UK library. Checked the submission history. That forward was in Dec 07 You can listen to it on my taxi - homepage www.taxi.com/music-picturesThe funny thing was, that I started to practice this song for my upcoming live performance in Zürich in one week - so I can do those edits they are asking for during my practice work. Re: Contract 1 year after the forward
Very Cool.I also got forwarded for the same listing, and I also got offered a contract yesterday.Unfortunately, I'm going to have to turn them down. Even though the arrangements are different, another version of the same song has already been signed to an exclusive deal and is "off the table".Dang it. Still, I can think of worse problems to have...Congrats, man.

OK - well those guys seem to have very long lasting schedules This is bad news. Why can't you offer them a slight edit of that song - or maybe try an other key - this might work sometimes. I have to do those edits they are asking for now - and I really have absolut no time since I am scoring a movie now... HP

cheers HPgratuliere, well done!Jan 18, 2009, 3:24am, hpcrazy wrote:OK - well those guys seem to have very long lasting schedules that is just how the industry of production music works. you can't change that, so live with it and use it to your advantage.Jan 18, 2009, 3:24am, hpcrazy wrote:This is bad news. Code:if one publisher has the exclussive right on a composition, than you can't give the same composition to another publisher. it's as simple as that. a slight edit won't help this is interesting - for me when you play the same song in an other key it gets a complete different thing - depending on the key. Some sound very similar others give a other color or mood. Code:Your song sounds like love to me. I am very happy to have heard it. I agree that diffrent keys can have a diffrent "vibe", and some people feel that more than other. however, it doesn't make a diffrence regarding the legal situation. to transpose a composition doesn't create a new copyright - otherwise one could transpose "love me tender" or any other hit song to another key and say that it's your composition. obviously this doesn't work.be aware that you guarantee certain rights to a publisher when signing a contract. in my opinion the person who signs that should know what that exactly means, what s/he can / can't do with that track in the future, etc.my 2 cents, martin

I must admit that I never really took my time to go through legal stuff - as many of other musicians I guess Thanks for the explaination.HP
