Cool chance to visit Slate HQ before the Rally starts

Post by peterharper » Wed Oct 19, 2016 4:48 pm

Been hanging out on Taxi TV for a while this is my very first post in the forum. I've been shy :-) Will also be my first Rally very excited! The schedule is just crazy, so buzzed!

I would like to ask favour.

I coming to LA just for the Rally but today I have been invited to visit the HQ of the one and only Steven Slate. The reason is that I have recently become the Head of the MPG ( Music Producers Guild ) for Scotland. I am organising an event to demo the Slate VMS system in Scotland later in November and will meet the guys at Slate HQ at 11am on Thursday the 3rd of November.

I will be staying at the Westin so it's an hours drive from there to Lookout Mountain Ave. So we would leave from there I guess about 9:30am and leave Slate HQ in plenty of time to get back for registration. I could hire a car but I just thought to reach out for a lift with a fellow studio rat ( love that expression ) as it is such a cool opportunity.

Let me know if anyone's interested.

Thank you,

Peter

That is a cool opportunity! I don't have a car (flying in) but have a blast and tell us about it!

Hi Peter.

Welcome to the Forums! It's great to see new faces here.

Sounds like a pretty cool field trip. Last year some folks took a tour of the Fender factory.
Hope you can hook up with someone who has a car. Alternately someone familiar with Uber could also be helpful.
Being the way LA traffic is, you may want to double check the drive time using Google maps at about the time of day you would be traveling. Right now it is 440am there and the drive time is about 30 minutes. That could triple. But your hour estimate could be right.

Hi Russell,

Thanks for the tips. Reckon I'll give myself a good couple of hours, just in case. I checked google maps and can see the route can get busy. I've booked a car hire for the day, with GPS so it's all good. See you at the Rally :)
