Cool, I just made the featured artists page on reverbnation!

A cozy place to hang out and discuss all things music.

Hats off to a fellow Reverb-er!

Q: did you submit for a critique(crowd review)? usually this is how reverb decides how's a featured artist on the front page(7.5 or better rating).......would like to hear how your experience is going so far.

Thanks everyone! It was a huge surprise for sure.

I'll give you the run down and my thoughts on reverbnation so far sirajx.

I got the pro account from winning a local artists media contest here in our area. There was a 100.00 gift card for reverbnation and a pro code. I used the 100.00 to get crowd review (silver) on 5 of my songs. I was pretty skeptical about the whole process because I had looked into the Slice of the pie outfit a few months previously. My songs scored between 6.3 and 7.8 and you need a 7.8 or higher to be a featured artists.

I don't know in the end how useful anything like crowd reviews really are, but it was very interesting to say the least to get 50 different reviews of each of my songs. From that score these songs are getting radio play on CBS tomorrows hits today as well as having been featured for 1 week.

In the end I've been really happy with the amount of new fans. I got over 200 new fans and almost 1600 song plays with a handful of song sales. Nothing to write to mom about, but for most of us all the sudden having 200 new people all check out and follow your music is pretty cool (Well, for me at least)!

I'm pretty sure I'll keep rolling with reverbnation pro for a while at least. It's made things simple for me in managing all my social media. I can post or send mass mail or fan reach and it also automatically hits up my twitter, facebook and google+ page.

I don't know how strongly I would tell people - "Go get a reverbnation page and pay for a crowd review." On my own I probably wouldn't have, and though I'm happy with what has come of it, in the end it's still not doing much for my career. I think the crowd review is a cool way to find out what the general public think of your song, but it will remain to be seen for me if the industry really gives a crap about what a handful of the general public being paid to write a review really think :)! I also think I was incredibly lucky. I don't think getting a 7.8 score happens very often and there's never any guarantee that the 50 people who listen to your song will even like the style of music you do.

My singer/songwriter songs did the best in the reviews. I think it is safer than trying to impress people with pop or edm. My edm track scored the lowest. People seem to be able to appreciate S/S for what it is but have a very high expectation of what pop should sound like. Just my opinion though.

Sorry, a bit wordy :) but you asked for it :D!

You can't make music fun..... It is fun! You can however make it a drag.
