Quote:Charlie Ryan's "Hot Rod Lincoln"Ha! 'never said Cody wrote it dude. Further, as with "He Stopped Lovin' Her Today," the writer doesn't always imprint the best version on the pop culture psyche. Cody made that song dance. "All Along the Watch Tower" comes to mind also. Here's to a proper stew.bc

Quote:Here's to a proper stew. Just bustin' chops, normally I wouldn't have bothered, but the original Hot Rod Lincoln is a favorite of mine. the lead guitar player for Charlie Ryan was Wallace Pulley, and although I never got to meet him, he is still my father in law!Rob

An unthinkable amount of pictures were lost in a house fire many years ago including photo's with Les Paul and Leo Fender. The guitars were in there too It's a shame, but we do have a couple of pictures left.Yes, boogie head is the same in both versions, and that's what Wallace played. I wish i could have had the chance to pick his brain... alas, I sure am grateful for his daughter though! Rob

Dusty,I used that head to demonstrate to guitar students why learning to pick up and down fluently was so important. By the way, just got around to visiting you and Rebekah's site. Love the music and Becky's vocals. She has that, "leaves in the wind" quality I so admire. Alison Krause comes to mind. bc

ha ha, it's hard to get beginners to understand the importance of alternate picking. i'll never forget what my teacher told me, "If i were to bet you $100 that i can run to the corner faster then you, are you going to take the first two steps with the same foot?"Thanks bc, I've been playing with rebekah for years and her vocals can still stop me in my tracks.I just had a listen to "Nothing but a bunch of Farmers". Very good, love the tune and the production is first rate!

Well, I didn't even read this web forum thread all the way through because I have other things going on that are more imporatant in my life, I just got home from a tracking session in the 'ville, where we turned out some very good tracks on a new song I'm developing. I was working at the Funhouse out by the ASCAP building on 18th Ave. South, they do a hell of a job...I ran into a dude, Dan Mitchell, however, who laughed his ass off when I told him I was even remotely associated with Taxi, because apparently this doesn't work. Just saying that will probably get my post deleted, but according to him and others here in town it's a bunch of hokum...Come to think of it, I never heard of a big hit or a big artist that ever got there through Taxi. If there was, they'd tell you about it, obviously and profusely....BTW, Dan wrote "If You're Gonna Play in Texas, You've got to have a Fiddle in the Band", performed by Alabama, among other things, and he maintains a nice residence in West Nashville from his royalties alone...I'll just keep on living and working here in Nashville and let my Taxi membership lapse...

sigh, not sure if you realize this, but forums are a give and take community. To start a post " I'm not even reading what you have to say because I have better things to do, but now you can read my thoughts..."Just go already. good riddance. Don't let the virtual door hit you in your virtual a$$.Honestly, I am amazed that ML let's the forum stay open. I am grateful, as it's core users are an enormous resource. Bu once a month it seems we get these idiots who just want to blast taxi, how much energy gets wasted on them? Thanks ML for everything you do in creating TAXI keeping it going./sigh

TAXI has gotten some deals for its members in Nashville. Here's two that I know of: Kenny Roger's song, "Buy Me a Rose" was submitted by two TAXI members, and it became a number 1 hit. Also, Eliott Park got a songwriting deal through TAXI....and this eventually resulted in the song "I Loved Her First" getting released in Nashville. This was also a number 1 hit on the Country Billboard charts (and radio stations) in 2006.

"What's in it for them?" I have to ask myself... why is it so important that they feel the need to "convince" everyone else?Maybe if it doesn't work for them they feel the need to create a scenerio whereby they hold themselves blameless... "It's not my music... it's that Taxi is a scam". Or before even trying, set up a built in excuse in case is doesn't work for them. Of course then there's the "hint" that they're the only ones smart enough to see through the scam... the rest of us are just a bunch of duped dopes. I'll admit it... I got duped into having my music appearing on network television every week because of Taxi. DavePS - What is the reply going to be (regarding "A Taxi member has never had a #1 Country hit through the Taxi process) now that you've pointed out that there have been not one but two #1 Country hits directly as a result of Taxi? Better not mention other genres like the guys that now write music for Disney, including tracks in "High School Musical" along with the legions of film/tv placements for "the rest of us".
